Seems the government of South Dakota has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on an antidrug campaign that backfired, using the tag-line quoted in the thread title.

From The People's Ledger.

Actually, I get it and it works for me as an attention getting play on words, but the unimaginative masses are throwing a fit.

But what I do think is hilarious is that this isn't their first time at this rodeo. Somebody commented:

“This is a great sequel to 2014’s Don’t Jerk and Drive,” he added, referencing a previous South Dakota erratic driving campaign that was unceremoniously pulled."

Mmm-hmm...

LOL

Who gave these advertising people a government contract?

Critics pointed out on social media that the tagline implies the entire state is taking the illicit substance.

LOL

I am pretty sure that campaign was meant for Canadians.

That's a great campaign, but totally wasted on the barely-sentient zombie citizenry.
Its cool that they've put a bit of humor into a dark subject.

Alternate headlines.

"South Dakota's productivity rates are going up and down simultaneously, stumping experts"

"South Dakota dentistrys are thriving"

Well, people are talking about it so maybe the campaign worked....

If I ever went back to get a Ph.D, I'd study how seemingly obvious bad decisions manage to get made in a corporate environment.... I cannot believe that no one saw this ad campaign and raised their hand that it might not be a good idea.

This is glorious.

Makes me want to retire in South Dakota.

Well, really, there are thousands there on meth, millions across the country get meth from there doctor. The prescribe it to our kids so they can handle them. They call it medicine for add and adhd behavior problems. I know that's not what the add was about but there is truth to it.

Oh my God, that is hysterical. I almost think that can't be unintentional.

And nobody commented on the erratic driving campaign. That was why I actually shared this story in the first place:

DON'T JERK AND DRIVE!

Reminds me of that classic Friends episode where Joey becomes the face of VD

Poorly done unless that was why they did it in the first place to create buzz
