Honestly just getting around to this one to "clean" out some of my digital clutter.

I've heard bad(ish) things. So i'll get straight to the point and well...

This thing is a mess. Sure, it's a modern action movie. So of course the CGI and action scenes are amazing(all it takes is money for those).

The storyline and continuity is an absolute disaster(you can't just throw money at that to make it good, it takes actual creativity to write something compelling down).

In a sense, it's pretty much action movie diarrhea in terminator flavor.

I wouldn't have watched it if I didn't have it already and just to twist the knife I have no intention of watching the latest. The only thing worse than phoned in CGI no story action is phoned in CGI action with a woke twist.

Matt Smith made a cameo in this and I actually really felt bad for him to have been roped into this nonsense.

I've been a movie "buff" in the past, especially action movies. I remember what used to be ridiculed("stars" like steven seagal). But I tell you youngins what(I'm in my mid 30's by the way). The storyline in some of those old crappy b movie actions are far eclipsing this phoned in template storyline nonsense. CGI is not the golden goose that can cover up all your #ty story writing and make something a blockbuster.

Let me assist with an image.

I liked it, as it allowed to erase the Connor timeline thus not needing what I think is about to happen in the latest release people seem to hate. Edit: or Kyle Reese

1 and 2 were great. 3 gave you a chance to see all the little robots boot up and Start carnage, and I actually enjoyed the Christian Bale Sam Worthington boot.

But I'm admittedly a simpleton when it comes to most movies. EXCEPT "SOLO" A Star Wars Story, that actually angered me.

Firstly, that image didn't show up and I think you damn well know that, ass.

Secondly, I'm a bit of a simp too. So nothing wrong with mindless action.

BUT, movies in the past(even 5 or 10 years ago) were never about a one and done.

It wasn't just the box office, but the disc sales(or now digital sales) and some semblance of rewatchability.

I rewatch good films(even average films that are "fun"), I'll never rewatch this(in fact I only watched it to have validated my original downloading of it). That shouldn't be the intent of making a "good" film.

I watched it, I'll have largely forgot it by tomorrow and not at all care about were it goes if they release another. That shouldn't ever give a writer or movie producer a sense of "success".

To be absolutely fair.

I wrote the OP with like 30 minutes left in the film.

It's over now and I'll now state that this film is absolute hot garbage. I feel bad for all those involved. Thank god all those involved have some actual screen credits to their name, otherwise anyone that "debuted" in this would be subjugated to running a hot dog cart based on their participation in this mess.

I'm just waiting for your review of ZombieLand Double Tap.

The Turdinator remakes I have no interest in.

Original Zombieland was good(great?? I'd give it that but I'm a zombie whore).

I'm sure I would have seen it by now if you would have invited me to the screening. Otherwise I have to wait for it to stream, god forbid I go through a movie without a cigar in hand and a glass of scotch in front of me.

Finish reading the post you quoted.

Next line was "the movie is over now".

I was watching a good rundown of why movies are so crappy these days. It all has to do with the globalization of the movies. With costs of big-budget movies skyrocketing, it doesn't make sense from a business perspective to go for something original, unique, or nicsh. Those movies are still around but not as much.

Now it's all about getting generic music, to generic plots, with generic action scenes, to appeal to the widest generic world-wide audience possible.

Other reasons crappy movies are made, to secure a copyright on a certain franchise, or character etc. It could be the worst phoned-in movie ever, they don't even care about making money in these cases, sometimes they don't even get released. And money-laundering among other things.

Just got back from Ford v Ferrari. Actually a good movie. A recommend for me. I rarely go to the movie theater anymore but that was a good one. I was once loved watching a good Star Wars on the big screen, but not anymore. I'm planning on watching the new Jurassic Park Jumanji*, that at least is entertaining and funny.

I too am a zombie movie fan and would give the original an 8/10 for the genre.

I had a friend that watched it and said it was better than the original.

HOWEVER.

A really good movie I'm going to watch on a 103" tv with real surround sound in the comfort of my home with some tequila.

So I'm waiting for the streaming version as well.

With fingers crossed.

You do bring up a good point. I think the point of them being more of a global product has more to do with the foreign money that is usually at the root of a lot of these films. The big budged, big name stuff in hollywood no doubt has a lot of international funding from all the foreign money flowing(laundered) into hollywood.

In the end, like politics, you have to appease those that ponied up the dough.

Stifled creativity and the "art" in order to deliver the product for those that want to profit off it. Sure, hollywood has always been that way, but it was obviously "better" when it didn't have to appease foreign interests and non american idealism/intellect.

I prefer to watch films at home. My favorite genre by far is zombie movies.

I used to watch them in my theater(in my home) with a 100 inch projection screen and a banging surround sound system(all 2000 watts). But no smoking in the house and frankly films just arent that good anymore. So now I sit in my hobit hole garage with a 40 inch TV and drink and smoke my fancy cigars and watch "hollywood" hits. I'm more often than not disappointed(not in the cigars or scotch, but the movies). My how the US has fallen.

Yea I saw that you made the edit
Sorry you didn't enjoy it. But you're more in tune to a good storyline than I am.

I am one of a very few people that will give a cheesy old Vincent Price movie a thumbs up too.. it's for entertainment.

And you're not a simpleton

I had a mental picture about that scenario.

Once we got a little liquored up and snuck our flasks into the theater, we would end up doing a drunken version of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on the movie and would probably end up in the hands of the authorities.

Well worth the bail money, in my opinion.

Well, I'm sorry to say your mental picture needs a bit more work.

I don't "sneak" any liquor around anymore(into a theater no less). It's more of a 5 gallon pail with a pump on it that I roll around on a 2 wheeler.

Also, there is no probably about it when it comes to authorities. I'm assigned a permanent government escort...He's actually a pretty nice guy. Jim has a wife and 2 kids, loves model trains, I've never met his family(even though he talks about them all the time), but that's what makes him a good father, keeping riff raff like me away from them.
