The majority didn't vote for Trudeau in Canada either but we both have our own system of government that determines who wins. The majority of Democrats didn't vote for Obama over Hillary when he won their primary but no one ever talks about that.

You're wrong on everything that you said. I haven't read any of the other posts because the OP was completely wrong, lazy and disingenuous. If you had done a simple Google search you could see that you were wrong before posting this, this is trolling.

Because of the EC Lincoln won and became POTUS. The Republican party started out, and continues to be, the party that has been anti-slavery meanwhile democrats wanted to keep slavery. Democrats gave us the KKK, they gave us "Jim Crow laws, and for almost 200 years Democrats fought against the Civil Rights Acts that Republicans tried to pass time, and again in the attempts by Republicans to give equal rights to people of all races, and to women. The first states to give these rights to people of other races and to women were Republican.

If we didn't have the EC, it is very possible that to this day we would still have slavery, women not being able to vote or have other rights, etc.

The Origins of the Republican Party
...
The Republican Party name was christened in an editorial written by New York newspaper magnate Horace Greeley. Greeley printed in June 1854: "We should not care much whether those thus united (against slavery) were designated 'Whig,' 'Free Democrat' or something else; though we think some simple name like 'Republican' would more fitly designate those who had united to restore the Union to its true mission of champion and promulgator of Liberty rather than propagandist of slavery."

There are over 30 Million illegal immigrants in this country. California finds ways for them to vote, along with other criminal states. So the saying is correct. The American People did vote for Trump, and by a large margin.

I'm tired of people acting like the electoral college is some sort of scam instead of it fulfilling its job. Which was and is to keep a large group of brainwashed morons from getting control.

How many times do I have to explain this to you children?

The POTUS was not elected by you. He was elected by the States.

There are fifty states.

FFS, this isn't hard.

It doesn't matter if he received six billion votes from one State. That State only has one vote.

I think it’s pretty clear by now that there is no “leftist, liberal media”. Wake the fk up. If there was, they would be completely behind sanders and other leftists, 100%, rather than trying to obfuscate everything they say and present them as non candidates. We have a corporatist media, and they serve the same masters that all your establishment republicans serve as well as the establishment dems.

It’s ludicrous to act like there’s this monolithic leftist bloc when the lefts problem has always been that it’s unable to unify and represent a solid front. The left in this nation is completely splintered, disorganized, and unrepresented. Sure, there are corporatists and a segment of wealthy elite that y’all CALL the left, but they lend no real support, at all, to anti war, pro labor, or any of the other actual leftist beliefs, and in fact attack them de facto while supporting them in words all the time.

Hillary's win in California was by more than 4 million votes which ultimately handed her the popular vote "win".

Woopity Doo...

A state whose big city electorate picks leaders that harasses working people for eating sandwiches in public but turns a blind eye to shoplifting, pissing in the street, and stealing the identities of legal US citizens.

Big city California has literally turned into a **** hole. It's embarrassing but Californians are too damn dumb to recognize how embarrassing they really are. It's to the point that winning California in a Presidential election is a sign that candidate is a terrible leader because big city California seems to only elect terrible leadership.

All a lazy voter has to do is look at who California is polling towards and vote for absolutely anyone else and their vote is more educated than any vote coming out of big city California.

Great so Hillary won the popular vote by three million, with a margin of victory of 4 million in big city California. Thank God for the electoral college. Otherwise we'd all be living in a **** hole similar to California instead of making America great again.

Edit: Stick that in your California popular vote peace pipe and smoke it until you go full retard.

What I don't understand and the left current candidates are all promoting national Medicare for all. Why hasn't California created a state healthcare for all their state citizens? Their population of 39 million similiar to the 37 million population of Canada.

If these benefits they are promoting are feasible, why not prove it within state first before attempting to take it to national levels? States have done so with legalizing medical/ recreational marijuana laws within their individual states.

I believe it is better to find out if a federal law is even viable by individual States enacting it first. Work out the system before enforcing it at a national level. If it is a big failure, the country as a whole will not fail. If it succeeds, the nation will be able to better see and weigh the benefit.

We are the United States of America not just simply America. We should work drastic changes upwards instead of blanket over a nation.

Well, Hawaii has done that with their healthcare, and it’s been successful for them. Also North Dakota has a very successful public bank, which California has now enacted as well as other states having on their agendas as well. But it’s important to not underestimate the power that the corporate lobbyists have. Corporations are more powerful than most imagine, their boardrooms decide wars, coups, assassinations, us legislation etc. One mustn’t underestimate the power of corporate wealth and the billions they’ve spent on psyops and propaganda.

a reply to: Tortuga Yes, we have had several elections that were disputed, 1800, 1824 and 1876 were a mess. 1876 wasn't settled until several months after the election. If not Electoral majority, it goes to the House, and that could still be a tie there.
