Anyone else tired of people pretending “the American people elected trump”, completely ignoring the fact the majority did not want him...and the majority by 3 million votes..

No one can take the win away from him, but you trumpettes so none of those statements that pretend the American people wanted are even remotely accurate.. trump supporters do not get to pretend the average American wanted him or supports him, because the average American hates his guts, and his supporters are not the average Americans..

Trump supporters are the minority... and the minority by a fair amount..

I don't like trump, i don't like the system that allowed him to be elected despite losing the popular vote, but i do respect that this is the american system and that in every legal sense he is the president and his election was 100% legitimate.

Just get over it already, if you don't like the system then campaign to change it. But don't come crying to me if a democrat candidate win a massive majority in the cities but looses because rural republicans have more children and they out breed and out vote you.

The majority of Americans didn't vote for either one of them.

Period.

Correct. In California alone in 2016 they had a population of over 39 million. Only 1/3 of that population - 13 million individuals actually voted.

Haven't checked other liberal strongholds but I imagine it will be similiar. I wonder if more will step up and actually vote come 2020 since they are tired of hearing this popularity rhetoric? Those that don't like any of the candidates proffered should just write their own name in and send a message to politicians...mainly that 'they still have a voice as an American citizen'. We may be surprised how many politicians are even more unpopular than they realize.

Exactly, so theoretically, Hillary could have won the popular vote by tens of millions of votes if all eligible voters in Cali and NY actually voted and STILL LOST. Kinda funny when you think about it.

How do you know?

Every State had people who voted for Trump and for Clinton.

(Or against Trump or against Clinton as the case may be.)

It was a typo and was suppose to say California and NY wanted Hillary, which is where you can account for the 3 million votes Hillary won the popular vote by. California alone accounts for an extra 4 million votes for Hillary. Like you said we use the EC for a reason to prevent just a couple states dictate policy for an entire country of states with different needs.

When someone says “Clinton got 3 million more votes than Trump.” that is a true statement.

Why does it bother you guys so much?

It doesn't bother me at all actually. I just made the simple statement I always make in these threads. I think you had a much larger knee jerk reaction to my post if anything, but maybe that's due to my typo saying California and NY wanted Trump?

You can “account for the 3 million” sure ... but that doesn’t mean that’s where the 3 million vote difference actually came from.

Let’s take a Red State: Alabama

Clinton: 729,547
Trump: 1,318,255
Other: 75,540

How do you know that some of the 3 million votes for Clinton didn’t come from AL?

The answer is the “more votes than” designation is merely an observation, a general statement.

You can’t say that the 3,000,000 vote difference came from New York and California any more reliably than I can say it came from AL, GA and TN (where Clintons totals were 3,478, 205).

No, I pointedly DID NOT say that we use the Electoral College to insure that a “couple of States” don’t dictate to the rest of us. That’s the argument I’ve called fallacious, here’s why:

California went 8,753,788 for Clinton and 4,483,810 for Trump. Clinton got all 55 Electors in the Electoral College. Therefore the 4.5 million Trump votes were negated. DO you think that’s fair?

I don’t.

Clinton should have gotten 34 Electors and Trump 22 Electors and Gary Johnson 1 Elector in the vote totals

The problem with the current situation is that the EC disenfranchises millions of voters in each election. Do you think that’s right?

Shouldn’t those 4.5 million Trump voters in CA have a voice? Shouldn’t their vote be counted?

That’s not factual by any means.

Do you understand why Ardent Trump Supporters constantly tell the rest of us that we’re unreasonable?

That’s why. A Trump supporter is no more likely to be a racist than any other American.

She did Win all 55 electoral votes for California. Now come 2020, more voters across the country will be disenfranchised as many states decided to sign on to the national popularity voting policy. Basically saying we don't care who are state citizens wants, all of our electors will vote for the most popular nationally.

Sigh. Here in Michigan, we only get 16 votes. California gets 55 votes, Texas gets 38, New York and Florida get 29 each! it is disgusting listening to Dems cry that Electoral voting is unfair. What has always been unfair are those states who play the winner takes all approach.

Those policies have already been a middle finger to voters. If we truly had an election of the people, for the people, to elect reps legitimately...those electoral votes would be based regionally and be able to give a true voice to actual votes.

California may still proffer 45-50 votes one way, but 5-10 may more accurately be recorded as well. This would play out similiar across the nation even in red state strongholds.

The American people did elect Trump. The American people have elected all of the past Presidents since our founding. I am simply tired of the losers nit-picking away at our constitutional method of electing.

Holy Moly! Guess I should have kept reading. You hit it on the nail. Guessing you were against the national popular pact too? It is unlikely, but goodness, a whole state could vote one way 100% and their electors ignore it and vote for the opposite due to national popularity! Egad!

Yes you can.

More people voted for Clinton than Obama.

And AGIAN.

Clinton had to build a WALL around the Phildelphia convention to keep out Sander supporters.

Stole like she owned it.

I didn't vote for trump, but i get why people did, and its not because of racism. Trump simply isn't racist enough to attract many racists, and a lot of racists are ardent socialists who supported Clinton. Just look at some of the whitest countries on earth and you will mostly find that they are european socialist states. Socialism is big into conformity and that often becomes cultural marxism which is inherantly supremacist in nature.

Its really semantics.

Trump was not democratically elected. He was however institutionally elected via the republic's vehicle for tallying votes (sic. Electoral College).
