Equally hypothetical:

What would you do if Trump is disgraced and removed from office? Would you accept the way our Constitution works?

Would you quietly move on and find a better candidate?

As long as the rules were followed, and the constitution isn't used for toilet paper, I'm good with whatever happens. I've said it a lot, if Trump breaks the law, he's not above it, arrest him. But, and this is a big one, be damn sure you applied equal justice to everyone. You can't make up rules just because Trump.

The current rules governing impeachment were established by the Republican Party.

Given that the Republican Party currently controls, by majority, the Senate, and that it is the Senate that determines whether a president is impeached, and whether, having been impeached, is to be removed from office;

You would appear to have little to fear with regard to adherence to Constitutional mores.

If the Senate, ultimately, concurs with impeachment,
It will be as a result of the facts brought before it, and their respect for their duties as set forth in the Constitution.

May they have the strength of character to rise to the responsibility with which they have been entrusted.

You think this is all a joke, dont you?

No I see it as an end times fulfillment which has been discussed before with the destruction of Babylon which is the harlot which is the good old USA. We go to a civil war do you think the world will simple kick back and watch? Karma is a bitch with her eye on America.

The target would be corrupt politicians and their handlers, not innocent Americans. Unless of course they stand in the way of justice.

The United States is clearly in the midst of a massive constitutional crises and an ongoing coup d'état. If we the people let it happen and do not resist, we deserve whatever we get.

Coup d'etat is French for "blow against the State".

A strike against the government. Inclusive of "Revolt" or "Revolution".

Right now the government includes the Trump Administration.

The impeachment proceedings and whatever their outcome are constitutional processes.

Any trial in the senate will involve all branches of government; House Impeaching, Senate trying, Chief Justice of SCOTUS overseeing the trial and President accused and able to launch a defense.

Any revolt not accepting that constitutionally dictated outcome would precisely fit the definition of a Coup D'etat.

I think too often in political debate that word is thrown around mindlessly, like Nazi.

No. This entire process is clearly a sham, an unconstitutional power-grab by scared politicians who will not stop at anything to protect their own.

Doing what is wrong under the color of office does not make it right.

It still is not a Coup De'tat, which would be an uprising against the government itself.

What about this process do you believe is "unconstitutional"?

The countries we have screwed over for the last 100 years will just stand by and watch. Dream on.

Well...way back in 1860, the Democrats suffered their first loss to a Republican and it wound them up so bad they went off and started a war. 160 years later would be 2020. So if the numerology holds out, the Democrats will suffer their last loss to a Republican. The mental and emotionally break down will be enough that they just quit, cease to be in their current format. No longer Democrats, they will become something else. Probably the American Socialist Secessionist party or something similar.

Or more likely not and they just keep fighting for the next election. But I understand why you lean toward such fantasies.

Fantasy?

I think DBCowboy clearly pointed out that there a whole bunch of DNCers ready to become straight up ASSes when they lose in 2020.

Nope, not fantasy. Just calling it as I see it. I remember the Bicentennial build up the whole year of 1976. I just hope that there are not so many ASSes as to ruin the 250th celebrations in 2026. That is my fantasy, to enjoy the Sestercentennial.

It's fantasy that says more about you than you would probably like to realize. I'll mark this thread and come back in 2021 so you can explain yourself more thoroughly after the sad realization that the Democratic party still exists...

I am willing to live with it if there is evidence that shows he has done something egregious that is comparable to what other politicians have been punished for. It is my stance the quid pro quo stance is weak because that is a major aspect of foreign policy. We want you do do X before you get Z. What is really mind blowing is how much of our tax payer money is leaving our shores because of stuff like this.

The Quid Pro Quo looks well established. Rand Paul was saying on one of the Sunday shows that the WH denying the Quid Pro Quo is a failing argument.

So the question that determines abuse of power is whether the Demand was for personal gain or for US Policy.

Anti-corruption is US Policy.
Domestic re-election campaign assistance for the President is not.

The latter would need to be proven for an Abuse of Power conviction by the senate.

Not working in the President's favor is that the agencies normally responsible for evaluating whether a government receiving aid is corrupt had determined Ukraine was not.

But in a letter sent to four congressional committees in May of this year and obtained by NPR, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy John Rood informed lawmakers that he "certified that the Government of Ukraine has taken substantial actions to make defense institutional reforms for the purposes of decreasing corruption [and] increasing accountability."

The certification was required by law for the release of $250 million in security assistance for Ukraine.

www.npr.org...

Other items that suggest it was personal gain:

A) The specification that the investigation involve the Joe Biden and his Son vs. General reforms.
B) The demand that the investigation be publicly announced on national television and include mention specifically of Burisma, the Bidens and the 2016 elections.
Obviously a public announcement would not be necessary for an investigation or cooperation into an investigation.
C) The involvement of Rudy Giulliani and a "Shadow" effort outside the normal channels of the State Department and DOJ used which suggests a fore-knowledge that the Quid-Pro-Quo was not for the benefit of US Policy at large, but rather a covert effort.

Why wait? Sanders, Warren, the four that make up the Squad and all six of them’s supporters is a pretty solid base right there. Bloomberg would just ship if he thinks there is more power to be gained. Beto would join. Tulsi would see it as futile ground. Basically any Socialist or Secessionist would jump right in easy enough.

The old guard Dems such as Biden, Pelosi, Schiff, etc. would need some heavy convincing in the form of voters. But they would still hold fast to the ideas of the DNC to keep the ASS from getting too out there. Or they would be rejected completely to make a cleaner break from their follies of misadventure.

You say fantasy. But I am basing it on reciprocity. The single word explanation of the Golden Rule, which is the basis of every successful religious philosophy ever expressed. Everything is reciprocity including the Dems becoming ASSes.

At some point even your silly juvenile act gets stale though, don't you think? Why even talk more about it? You've made some ridiculous conjecture and have to dress it up with grade-school jibes because I guess you think that makes you look or feel like a big man (not sure why you feel the need to do so but whatever). I've marked the thread and will ping you again in just over a year so you can make some other equally immature response to hide the fact that the aforementioned silly fantasy didn't pan out.

What I’m curious about is at what point will you get angry at Donald Trump for making you look like an idiot?

Or is it one of those things where you’ll go into the ground screaming about how it’s everyone except the well known lying scumbag who’s lying?

If there is evidence Trump did something worthy of impeachment and removal, I would be angry if he wasn't removed. THAT is the process our nation is founded on.

And you are correct that a lot of what is currently happening is due to republicans screwing the pooch a few years ago, and not having the vision to realize what that might bring to the future, much like the left is doing right now.
