Someone somewhere tipped off the bad guys about the gold bar shipment. The guards were roughed up and supposedly beaten but were not killed ?? Kinda strange for a Cartel as they have no problem killing women, kids, and babies so maybe these were just normal thieves ? Either way this was quite a haul ...

Sonora: The theft of 47 gold bars, equivalent to 722 kilograms, was recorded Friday night when it was being transported in a vehicle of a securities company on the International Highway on the Sonoyta section.

The company produced a total of 94 ingots between July, August and September, so the armed group took half of the production of that period. The estimated value of the 47 stolen gold bars would reach a value greater than 500 million pesos, this according to El Universal, (ie approx $25 million USD.)

An armored truck of the SVD company, owned by the Noche Buena mining company, a subsidiary of the Corporation Fresnillo PLC, was intercepted by heavily armed individuals, who beat the three security guards who were traveling in the vehicle , sustained injuries and the thieves took the millions of gold bullion.

Federal Police elements were the first to move to the site after receiving the report. However, the thieves had already fled by then, leaving the injured guards. The National Guard collaborates with the Sonora Prosecutor to find those responsible for this millionaire robbery.

At the time of the robbery, the security guards carried three revolvers. The thieves beat and disarmed them, although authorities reported that the injured are stable. They do not know, for the moment, who was able to carry out the assault and what is their modus operandi.

Clean robbery.

Live wisely now and you may just get away with it.

Will have to be some inside connections to know about the transfer and which van to hit. Makes it look a bit better for the guards getting roughed up a bit. With all the drug wars going on in that part of the world sounds like the cartels are getting more resources to play with.

Nope....25 million...guards alive...nope...doesn't fly that way, could be subterfuge to lend guilt to one or more of the guards to throw off Authorities..... its an inside job but from higher up...not inside as in a little guy....more like the boss ripping himself and the "group" off.

Just one more significant sign that the global Worm is Turning.

All bets are off and criminal control mechanisms are failing from Continent to Continent...as fiscal enterprise is taken from the bad guys t is immediately being given to the good guys....there is no vacume...no wiggle room....its time for all the upper end Bad guys to pop smoke and make a run for it......this 25 million was just one small golden parachute being withdrawn from the global bad guys bank....I don't even think there is enough organisation left to hunt down and remediate the thieves....I think they will get a mulligan on this one ….things really are changing now.

My first thought as well. Guards 'roughed up', but not killed, so they could tell a harrowing story of the robbery, and give intimate details of the robbers and send authorities chasing ghosts. Buys time to get the loot out of the country.

I hope the Mexican authorities are smart enough to have all these supposed 'guards' separated and under some pretty intense psychological interrogation.

Definitely an inside job - not necessarily with the guards playing a part. Even toner cartridges have high security / secrecy protocols for transport. I had once designed procedures for a Japanese importer after inside jobs had hit 3 of their trailers.

With gold, those bars are surely headed for immediate meltdown and reconfiguration.

This is what happens when you let Erkel drive a security truck.
