Howcome he was charged, but ANTIFA never is?

www.thepostmillennial.com...

Anyone hurting another person or property regardless of political affiliation should be charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Wow, I didn't think it would happen, but I've got to disagree with you. Antifa destroys and burns cars, attack anyone not in lock step with what they spew. Mr. Hoyt didn't go slashing through the crowd of anti-Trumpers, he didn't burn any cars, didn't attack people with milkshakes, he slashed just one balloon in an act of defiance against hate. I don't think this comes close to censorship.

He destroyed property. He's no better than the morons who topple statues because they were offended.

Would you feel that way if you owned or rented the balloon and someone walked up and cut it? You are looking at this as the other side, I see it as another American who I don’t 100% agree with. I won’t destroy their property, I’ll settle this on Election Day.

I just see it as two separate things. That balloon which is childish and petty just needs a little duct tape slapped on it and it's ready for the next hate rally. Statues are monuments to our history and people should be offended if they are toppled or removed.

No creativity. Stealing, deflating the balloon and then reinflating the balloon with methane and retuning it.

The gift that keeps on giving when they pack it back up to return it.

I see your point, but not to make light of it, I'd never be that desperate or low enough to consider owning anything like that. Has anybody on the right follow obama around with a balloon just to insult him? No, but some how this baby trump balloon is sacred ground?

It’s not stupid.

It was designed to make a statement and it worked .

We’re talking about it right now .

If the balloon was childish and petty, which I think it is, then any serious attention to it only elevates the importance to it.

I view that what Hoyt did was to express himself.

Was the Boston tea party an act of senseless destruction or was it a statement ?

It’s a double edge sword .

It was a criminal act..
No matter the intention behind the act it was still illegal.

Is tearing up trump signs and banners just a case of self expression?

I don't know why the presidents people haven't taken this baby caricature and run with it. Who doesn't like a baby character of anyone? We've seen it in most any famous cartoon characters, Looney Tunes, Mickey Mouse, etc.

If the Republican party wants to take the air out of this balloon you need to embrace it and then adopt it. Make their own young versions of Trump, wanna really piss them off, a baby Trump holding up the world Atlas style.

Violence deployed for political purposes is always wrong.

Even against balloons.

I wonder if the guy knew he would be charged with a felony. I don't think any felony record is worth whatever point he was trying to make.

If he is convicted doesn't that take away his 2nd amendment rights?

I think it depends on the state but where I live anything over $1000 in damage is classified a felony, anything under is a misdemeanor.

Not a big deal. Destruction of property. At least he didn't hurt anyone.

If I were his judge I'd make him buy a new one, but that's not it. I'd make him inflate it and raise it up where the last one was. Simply replace the damage he did and put it back to the way it was.

And people are free to record it for him for later viewing.
