"Nazi" is thrown around allot in these discussions, so let's see who really is closer to one.

Do you believe more to total government power will make a better society?

Do you believe some speech, thoughts, and ideas should become illegal and punishable?

Do you think citizens should be disarmed?

Do you believe the unborn is not human and can be eradicated?

Do you believe depopulation is a good thing?

Do believe those who dissagree you on these ideas should be silenced?

If you answered "yes" to all of these, congratulations! You're more a Nazi then you thought!

If you answered "no" then congratulations! You're a conservative or a libertarian!

I hope that clears some things up. You may now all resume with the endless arguing.

Why do people always feel there has to be Nazis in a political discussion.

It's not always good guys vs Nazis... More frequently I imagine it's just people who disagreed with some assholes peppered in. Quite often both sides have people who'd be ok with taking freedoms, or keeping them gone.

I answer no to all of your do you believes. I don't believe. I also do not believe in believing. Believing shows tendencies to lead to closed mindedness. You have taken a list of things that you believe and then asked about each of them in the opposite, that is things you do NOT believe. Then you have extrapolated from that that anyone who believes the opposite of what you believe is a fascist.

Pretty sure anyone who disagrees with me is an actual ardent Nazi.

Your whole thread proves you don't know what a Nazi is. You have no clue.

Let's play a game.....

Who's the OP that doesn't have a clue?

Let's stop playing games and quit calling anyone a Nazi. The Nazi party existed for a short period in the 20th century. Almost anyone from that era is dead now. Using the name Nazi in modern time is ignorant.

ATS has taught me that since you’re pointing out how I’m a Nazi that in fact, you are the real Nazi.

I don’t make the rules.

Okay, but you're missing the personal love and adoration for Adolf Hitler and a belief in the Supremacy of the Germanic Aryan Race.

Both of those are pretty important in National Socialism last I checked.

I don't think you'll find anyone on either side of the fence who identifies with Hitler or Nazis, the word is nothing more than a wedge (among many others) being used to stifle discussion and debate, a convenient buzzword used to "get out of jail free" when pushed into an ideological corner so that you can continue ignoring your own hypocrisies and prejudices by projecting them onto your imagined foe.

So I guess that means this thread is one born out of ignorance and/or prejudice.

Your description could fit Mao's China and Stalin's Russia and all other communist regime.

So what about "yes" to some queries and "no" to others?

What do you win there, just half an inverted Swastika?

You’re like a half-way Nazi. Maybe you could wear a headband instead of the armband.

Let's take a look at Ann Landers definition of Nazism, just for fun to add to the game.

In all cases the person has two dairy cows.

Socialism: You keep one cow, the government gives the other cow to your neighbor

Communism: You give both cows to the government, and they just might give you some of the milk.

Fascism: You give all the milk to the government, and the government sells it

Nazism: The government shoots you (for not agreeing with them politically - or you follow a religion they don't approve of) and takes both cows

Anarchism - You keep both cows, shoot the government agent and steal another cow.

Capitalism - You sell one cow and buy a bull. Thereby creating more cows, and more milk, lowering the price of milk for everyone

By this standard: Democrats could be either socialist or Nazism (with proverbial shooting being doxing, social ostracism, getting people fired from jobs, beating 600 to date for wearing a hat they don't like) with Congresspeople who are antisemitic.

By this standard: Republicans are capitalists

But really nobody is a Nazi,
because no one physically assaults people just because they have a political opinion one doesn't like : no one goes around destroying people's property when they think a person is going to say something they don't think others should hear : no one has a group of enforcers (I mean really) that go around in all black like the SS enforcing what just one party thinks is good political ideology and bashing in windows of businesses : this stuff doesn't happen these days. Come on people. Let's give peace a chance. Really, doing your best to silence people who you feel are politically incorrect and cancelling them from public life, come on, that is just creating a more peaceful society for all. Isn't it?

OP here. To answer you all at once, yes I know what a Nazi is and I know that a communist could fit most of these. But a combination of collectivism, statism, suppression of ideas and self-defense, deplatforming, along with the Eugenics angle that comes from leftist environmentalism (depopulation), and racially focused societal restructuring is more nazi-like. I mean they even have a racial group that they pick out as a source of all evil in the entire world, but instead of the Jews with Nazis it's white people with them. Also, Antifa basically is acting like a bunch of brownshirts harassing people in the streets. The irony is hilarious!

My whole point is that the left tends to be screaming that their opposition are all Nazis but the things that they believe tend to be more nazi-like. This is all sort of tongue and cheek but also semi-serious the more oppressive and aggressive this rhetoric gets and I think it needs to be addressed.

John.

No, I don't believe it. I entertain it as notions. I consider it. I think about it. I think that beliefs have opposites. If we believe something, we believe it to be true hence it's opposite is not true. If we believe that something is right then the opposite must be false and all those who believe those falsehoods are wrong. If we believe that nazi's are wrong it must be because they believe the wrong things. If you would like to consider those thoughts please fell free to do so. We can talk along those lines if you wish.
