Once again liberals literally cancelled a conservative and Republican. Protesters broke in and attempted to rush a speech by Jeff Sessions. He had an invitation to speak and accepted the invitation and was speaking when this occurred. The result was Jeff Sessions' speech was literally cancelled before he had a chance to barely begin. Sessions had to be escorted out of the building for his personal safety. One student who rushed in and endangered Sessions said "There’s a limitation to free speech. That ends at overtly racist old white dudes.”

Jeff Sessions is not a racist, I have known several members of his family going back a few generations. The protestors just assumed because he worked for Trump he was a racist. Just as they assume all Trump supporters/voters are racist, and therefore have no rights to free speech.

It seems to me that the progressive/liberal Democrats have gone out of their way the past 3 years to "cancel" anyone and everyone:
who voted for Trump, 60+ million voters;
along with anyone and everyone who work/worked for Trump;
along with anyone who approves of what Trump has done for the economy, for the record low unemployment rate for minorities,
anyone who approves of his fight against terrorism,
or for his attempt to equalize trade agreements that were previously harmful to the US.

By cancelled, I mean they no longer want to associate with them, to speak to them, to see them as equal human beings worthy of basic human rights.

Liberals certainly don't appear to want what they have deemed as conservative, (i.e. racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic) votes.

Back to the title of my OP: Do YOU feel canceled by liberals to the point where you are certain they don't want your vote, nor will they ever get it because they cancelled you?

What were the students protesting about?

The whole thing seemed like a fabricated PR event.

Well this is just one event at a campus shutting down a speaker who might hurt these students with words.

All they want is attention and to post videos of them fighting a nazi scum on their social media. They think they're making history but if the reverse happened to a progressive speaker the internet would shut down especially if it was a minority speaker. Bunch of attention seeking hypocrites.

How about beating these people they hate with better arguments?

I am past all of that. I don't care if the country goes full blown socialist. The ones that survive it will learn better than to do it again. The ones that don't survive won't get to try it again.
I am getting old. Too old to give a crap.
I will let my children fight that battle.

If you ask the majority of these students they'd think he was a high ranking SS officer.

They just heard he was linked to Trump and the progressive bat signal went off. This is not the approach for any party to fight opposing ideas

They were protesting a conservative who worked for Trump being invited to speak on their campus. They felt he had no right to speak on their campus.

What happened:

"Students on Tuesday protested Northwestern College Republicans’ decision to host former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, chanting outside Lutkin Hall before attempting to interrupt Sessions’ talk by climbing through open windows and pushing through doors.

Around 150 protesters, some holding signs reading “No conSessions, No racism, No KKK, No Facist USA” and “SE$$ION$ I$ A TRAITOR,” gathered outside the lecture hall before Sessions was scheduled to speak at 7 p.m., booing and yelling as attendees entered the building. Sessions’ talk, hosted by NUCR, was titled “The Real Meaning of the ‘Trump Agenda.’”"

Why did it happen:

"Some protesters chanted “Hey, hey JBS, you got us into this mess” and “I-C-E, KKK, how many kids have you killed today?” while others called attendees “clowns” and urged them to “stop disguising (their) racism as free speech.”

“There’s a difference between having a sustained dialogue and listening to other opinions and accepting hate speech and fascism,” said a student protester, who added they were tackled by police for entering Lutkin through a back door. “That’s the difference with the Trump administration. There are other viewpoints, but when your actions and your words are actively killing and oppressing people, we can’t accept that.”"

Quotes from the NWU student newspaper article:

They shouted and rushed the stage until the event was canceled. Tons of examples of the same tactic used on different campuses. Where were they when Obama was putting migrants in camps and a record number of children were dying crossing the border.

I don't really like Sessions but I don't agree with shutting down his right to speak. Words can't hurt you.

So when conservatives start shutting down progressive speakers and calling them communists who spew hate through free speech you won't complain right? Two sides to every story. Do you see how this isn't a healthy way to debate ideas?

This has been going on the past couple of years. Anytime a conservative speaker tries to give a talk at these schools they are protested.

Liberals cant win debates with facts and logic so they have to resort to shutting down speech they dont agree with.

We're living in a time of diverging realities where anyone identifying as left/right has been convinced of a drastically different version of reality than their counterparts on the other side.

These realities are incompatible, it's the new pen for the sheep.

Jeff Sessions is not a racist,

Yeah, he is.

The protestors just assumed because he worked for Trump he was a racist.

Trump chose him, partly, because of his racist reputation.

Read Coretta King's letter to Strohm Therman from way back in 1986:

Re: Nomination of Jefferson B. Sessions
U.S. Judge, southern/District of
Alabama Hearing, March 13, 1986
Dear Senator Thurmond:
I write to express my sincere opposition to the confirmation of Jefferson B. Sessions as a federal district court judge for the Southern District of Alabama. my professional and personal roots in Alabama are deep and lasting. Anyone who has used the power of his office as United States Attorney to intimidate and chill the free exercise of the ballot by citizens should not be elevated to our courts.
Mr. Sessions has used the awesome powers of his office in a shabby attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters. For this reprehensible conduct, he should not be rewarded with a federal judgeship. I regret that a long-standing commitment prevents me from appearing in person to testify against this nominee. However, I have attached a copy of my statement opposing Mr. Sessions' confirmation and I request that my statement as well as this letter be made a part of the hearing record.

Read the entire statement here: www.documentcloud.org.../p1

Then there's this, from Jeff Sessions confirmation hearing.

The senator was banned from the congressional floor for trying to read a letter by the late Coretta Scott King www.elle.com...

Elizabeth Warren Tries to Read Coretta Scott King Letter, Is Silenced by the Senate The senator was banned for the congressional floor for trying to read a letter by the late Coretta Scott King. The senator was banned for the congressional floor for trying to read a letter by the late Coretta Scott King.

Warren was warned that, should she continue, she risked violating a rule that insists that senators refrain from "impugning the motives" of a fellow senator. Warren argued that she wasn't "impugning" Sessions, only quoting from source material. Anyway, Sessions hadn't yet been elected senator when King wrote her letter to Congress. She continued. But a little later, McConnell objected. The Senate voted 49-43, with Republicans choosing to silence her. The vote forbade her not only from continuing but also from speaking at all on the rest of the Sessions debate.

Frick
@firstperk
So let me get this straight. POTUS can tweet insults at senators, fed judges, etc. but Warren is silenced for reading a letter? #letlizspeak

Cancel cultures comes back to haunt Jeff Sessions! Yeah!

I don't understand why college campuses are allowing these kinds of disruptions during events. They need to publish rules for protesting outside of facilities where scheduled events are taking place. Allowing anyone to rush a stage or a person during an event is unacceptable.

Liberals certainly don't appear to want what they have deemed as conservative, (i.e. racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic) votes.

What do you expect? Donald Trump and especially his followers have spent almost 4 years baiting liberals, stoking division, getting off on “triggering” people that believe something different.

You all have pissed off a large portion of America. And in doing so created a political backlash this country has never seen. Going by the numbers America is overwhelmingly Democratic, and you all have forced almost every one of them to be engaged in the political process.

And now you want to complain when Republicans are confronted by these same people? Cry me a river.

You all brought this on yourselves. I’d be surprised if there are any Republicans running anything above state government come 2020.

Oh please. Most of these folks couldn't even give you one instance of trump oppressing anyone. They just protest because they are useful idiots of the left.

Good luck with all of that war talk. The future you all think you're building will not be a good one.

But hey, your corporate and intelligence nannies will build you fun toys to play with, occupy your time with woke theater on the boobtube, and feed you an endless supply of fake news telling you how great you are.

Fascism goes mainstream in America. Sweet.

You will be surprised in 2020.

Seems you agree with "cancelling" Republicans

Remember there are lots of (60+ million) Republican voters you just "cancelled" and they won't vote for a Democrat because the Democrats have made it quite clear they don't want them.

Also, all the conservatives who didn't vote in 2016 may just go and vote to spite being called the most awful things Democrats could think of to "cancel" them and to say "we hate you".
