In his revised statement, Sondland said he now remembers telling a top Ukrainian official on Sept. 1 that hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to the beleaguered U.S. ally would “likely” be held up unless the government announced investigations of Trump’s political rivals.

He told lawmakers that efforts from the President's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to persuade Ukraine to open an investigation into Trump's political rivals "kept getting more insidious" as time went on, and he suggested Giuliani's efforts might have been illegal, according to an excerpt of his closed-door deposition transcript.

Sondland also testified that Trump and Giuliani’s positions “kept getting more insidious,” evolving from a general interest in fighting corruption, to an interest in Burisma, and finally to an investigation of the Bidens—and that Sondland “assumed” such an investigation, as pursued by Giuliani with Trump’s support, would be illegal.

He had to amend his testimony after other witness testimony and text messages were gathered.

IMO Trump using US Military Aid appropriated by congress to extort a foreign government for campaign assistance is no longer an open question.

The question is how far will his defenders go to deny the growing mountain of evidence.

Have at it.

Your thread is already null and void before it gets off the ground for quoting Politico and CNN.
How convenient he couldn’t recall anything the first time he testified but now he is saying it was all illegal.
Swing and a miss.

At the end of the day, if Trump's political rivals didn't have so many skeletons, illegal skeletons, in their closet, there'd be no grounds for him to turn to foreign government investigations of them to "aid his campaign."

I provided a link to his literal testimony. The excerpts by CNN and Politico are based entirely on the under oath testimony of a Trump Appointee that donated 1M Trump.

He revised his testimony to avoid prosecution after multiple witnesses testified under oath as to what he told them and transcripts of text exchanges with him became public.

It's all hearsay and mud-slinging until people testify under oath with threat of jail time from perjury.

Looks like it was released 10 days after that. And what was done on the Ukraine side to make that release possible?

This is a great OP. Thanks for posting it. Can you imagine what the Republican's response would be if a Democrat did this:

"The acknowledgment of a potential quid pro quo is an explosive shift that threatens to upend claims by Trump allies that military aid was not used as a bludgeon to advance Trump’s domestic political interests.

Story Continued Below
Sondland revealed the exchange in supplemental testimony he submitted to House impeachment investigators on Monday, saying he had failed to recall the episode when he testified in person last month."
