A trade war is not conventional warfare. It’s somewhat a figure of speech. For crying out loud !
No it’s not for the purpose of us to surpass them, it’s to stop them from taking advantage of us, and we also have a problem with them stealing our intellectual property and our technology. Yes we have every right to push against it. I said it in an Econ class a number of years ago (before Obama). My Econ professor was duly impressed and suggested I change my major to Business management.
Now I must go back to work so I can work so the Democrats can steal my paycheck and give it to their future voter base...
( end sarcasm)
So now, back to the original OP! Yes communism killed many millions. Deaths from the gulags, starvation, exhile (as in SIBERIA ) and even execution and mass murder (such as massacre at Red Square). Do you need to have it spelled out ? www.google.com...

I mean, you come off looking like a real idiot when you mock me for not knowing history, when you were just unaware of the event I described. Like you couldn’t even spend a minute on google for verification before telling me I was wrong.

So you are calling me a "real idiot" whilst complaining about abusive posters?
Goodbye.
Troll on.

Really doesn't matter. Socialism sucks, has never worked and never will with a population the size of America. It's a failure before it starts and history proves this.

And wow. We haven’t heard that 50000 times, with no logical basis to back it up.

Socialism works in small countries with ethnically homogenous populations and a strong industrial base. I truly doubt it will work in a country of almost 400 million people ever, least of all one divided as this one currently is.

Under our current system we have X amount of freedoms and liberties.

Would socialism provide X freedoms and liberties?

I’m sorry, could you enumerate those for me? Or is this just a nonsense question. Can you own firearms in socialism? Sure, never saw any issue with that. It’s not contraindicated in our socialism hand book. Cam jobs pay different salaries to different people? Absolutely! It’s done plenty times. Every time, in fact. Can we vote? Yep. That’s in there too. Can we decide which policies we think make the most sense? That’s right in there with voting! How about abortions? Well, I guess that’s up to the people to decide.

Own land?? Sure! People have owned land in every version of socialism I know of. Property right? Yep. People own property in every country we’ve called socialism. Contrary to the us, where you have to pay for your land every year or it gets taken away.

In socialism, can I self determine?

Can I opt out of "mandatory" healthcare?

Can I opt out of "mandatory" taxes to pay for the "free" education?

Does socialism sacrifice the individual rights for the collective?

Yes it does.

One has no property or civil liberty.

The mob supposedly owns everything but there would be 535 oligarchs dishing out allowances to the good kiddies.

The goal of socialism is communism and the goal of communism is abolition of private property rights. Have you read the communist manifesto ? Part of the abolition of private property rights is the excessive taxation and redistribution of wealth. Get a clue.

That’s a logical fallacy. The goal of socialism for most everyone that supports it, and keeping in mind here we’re talking democratic socialism ala Nordic model, is a more just society, where opportunity is based on merit, not parentage and nepotism or accumulated wealth, and NOT communism. If you ask any socialist, most will tell you they do not support communism, just as most capitalists don’t support monopolistic oligarchy.

You can’t opt out of taxes now, nor can you opt out of paying for everyone’s healthcare or education. But absolutely I support private insurance plans outside of the public health plan.

Under socialism, education is a right.

Under socialism, healthcare is a right.

Neither are a right under the US Constitution.

Nice fear mongering imaginary scenario. Considering we are already on a fast track to brave new world, most of the options facing us are suitably dismal. And you seem to be fine with that.

Individual rights are not dependent on others, only socialism/communism claims "rights" that are dependent upon the forced participation of others.

That's not fear mongering.

That's a GD FACT.

And you really do not know how right the brave new world reference is.

Although the SOCIALISTs are the ones pushing it.

Largely set in a futuristic World State, inhabited by genetically modified citizens and an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by only a single individual: the story's protagonist.

en.wikipedia.org...

Reproductive technology- Men can become 'women' and vice versa.

Pyschological manipulation. That covers MSNBC and CNN.

Classical conditioning College, university,Film and television programing kids like SAVE THE PLANET and other crap.

Socialists are dangerous SOCIOpaths because they couldn't give a ratt ass about their fellow man.

If you ask any socialist,

If you ask any communist.

THEY CALL THEMSELVES SOCIALISTS.

The term "Communist state" is used by Western historians, political scientists and media to refer to these countries. However, contrary to Western usage, these states do not describe themselves as "communist" nor do they claim to have achieved communism—they refer to themselves as Socialist or Workers' states that are in the process of constructing socialism.[6][7][8][9]

No matter how much lipstick you put on this pig. It's still an authoritarian, bloody PIG.

Ah. So all the nurses, docs and hospital workers and teachers in every other western industrialized nation are slaves then? Along with our police, firemen, public school teachers. Meaningless gibberish.
