You nor Schiff get to decide what is and isn’t due process, the only thing you’re doing is supporting evidence that this is nothing but a kangaroo court.

That makes no sense.

Nobody can decide what Due Process is! Except you? And the GOP? And Trump?

Investigations don't allow for the accused or their defenders to Subpoena people or interrogate witnesses.

Trials do though.

Do any of you realize how mental it sounds to scream about Due Process when there is not a trial?

Can't wait to see what the deflection strategy is when it actually does go to trial in the senate.

With words like "Schiff" and "Doo Process" I don't think the court is the part of the Kangaroo we should be worrying about.

The sad comedy really does write its self on this. A Drunk, a clown, and a chicken walk into a room. The vote was along partisan lines. See.

Due process has been codified with this new Resolution.

They can take their due process and this impeachment and shove it up their arse. The fact that they ignore their own criminal acts and corruption while proclaiming

TLDR

Trump is POTUS. He abused his power and extorted a foreign government to interfere in the 2020 election.

Just straight out lies now?

Lets put asides the legalities against Trump for a min,

That's awesome. you should be a defense attorney.

The dem party wants to get rid of someone for making a phone call, to possibly have a politician in their party investigated for corruption. That's really it in a nutshell and you all act like he's committed some atrocious war crime against humanity and the sky is falling.

By Phone call you mean a months long shadow foreign policy with his personal nut-bag attorney running US Foriegn Policy in order to force Ukraine to MANUFACTURE crap he can use in his campaign?

You failed to mention he was extorting a foreign country under invasion by Russia and extorted them with 300 Million in congressional appropriated Military Aid they desperately needed..and he did it covertly with Rudy and crew.

Honestly if you think that is A-OK you need to move to a 3rd world sh*&-hole where you will be happy.

When a loyal, hand picked right winger like Bolton calls foul and describes it as Drug Deal and tells people to report it to legal counsel...there just might be issue.

This is 100x worse than Nixon's B&E and a different universe than Clinton lying about a BJ.

Your alternate reality posts are ridiculous and failing.

And yet, even the Ukrainian President was not aware of this. How can there be quid pro quo, if one party isn't even aware it?

Also, what say you to Dems threatening to withhold money to Israel, unless they change their position on settlements? Are you A-Ok with that?

President's can't be charged with crimes? That is what Impeachment is for.

But I will play, in no particular order and far from all-inclusive:

18 U.S. Code § 872: “Extortion by officers or employees of the United States.”
“Whoever, being an officer, or employee of the United States or any department or agency thereof, or representing himself to be or assuming to act as such, under color or pretense of office or employment commits or attempts an act of extortion, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

2 U.S. Code § 192, “Refusal of witness to testify or produce papers,”

18 U.S. Code § 610, “Coercion of political activity.”

52 U.S. Code § 30121, “Contributions and donations by foreign nationals.”
It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election.

18 U.S. Code § 607, “Place of solicitation,
“It shall be unlawful for an individual who is an officer or employee of the Federal Government, including the President … to solicit or receive a donation of money or other thing of value in connection with a Federal, State, or local election, while in any room or building occupied in the discharge of official duties by an officer or employee of the United States, from any person.”

18 U.S.C. §§ 1501-1521 Obstruction of Justice

18 U.S.C. § 371. Conspiracy to Defraud the United States

18 USC 201 Bribery
includes a public official seeking “anything of value” for influencing a public act

18 U.S.C. § 1346 Honest Services Act
by performing an official act in exchange for personal gain, a public official defrauds his constituents of his honest services to make decisions and take actions that are in the best interests of the public

18 U.S.C. § 1512 Witness Intimidation and Tampering

A half dozen people that report to Trump directly or indirectly have testified the Ukranians were clearly aware of it. Sondland, Taylor and Rudy had made it clear.

Plus they have texts and official documents: www.nytimes.com...

Also, what say you to Dems threatening to withhold money to Israel, unless they change their position on settlements? Are you A-Ok with that?

A global human rights issue and settlements that violate international law vs. Trump getting help with his domestic campaign?

Same thing...Jesus what has partisanship done to your logic centers.

I'm not signing up to NYT to read a story. Got another source?

The league of nations mandate gives jew the right to settle (actual word in the mandate) which was adopted by the UN. In '49, when Jordan invaded the state of Israel, they ethnically cleansed the jews out of those areas. What you're saying is that, despite Israel taking back these territories in '67, they have to uphold Jordan's policy of keeping them "Jew free".

Also, if indeed a breach of international law, why would they have to threaten Israel's aid, and have them reconsider their stance on them?

This isn't even close to any kind of "court", kangaroo or otherwise. This is still an inquiry.

The "court" doesn't even happen unless the HoR actually passes articles of Impeachment which then go to the Senate for "court" (aka: a trial).

Ya'll keep putting the cart before the horse, then whine and complain about how it's not fair that it isn't moving forward the way you think it should.

off-topic, but here you go. Start a new thread if you want to play tennis on the issue.

United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016 states that Israel's settlement activity constitutes a "flagrant violation" of international law and has "no legal validity". It demands that Israel stop such activity and fulfill its obligations as an occupying power under the Fourth Geneva Convention.

en.wikipedia.org...

on Tuesday, William B. Taylor Jr., the top United States diplomat in Kiev, told House impeachment investigators that the freeze was directly linked to Mr. Trump’s demand.

In fact, word of the aid freeze had gotten to high-level Ukrainian officials by the first week in August, according to interviews and documents obtained by The New York Times.

The problem was not bureaucratic, the Ukrainians were told. To address it, they were advised, they should reach out to Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, according to the interviews and records.

The timing of the communications, which have not previously been reported, shows that Ukraine was aware the White House was holding up the funds weeks earlier than acknowledged.

It also means that the Ukrainian government was aware of the freeze during most of the period in August when Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani and two American diplomats were pressing President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine to make a public commitment to the investigations.

This "inquiry" is presuming guilt without a crime, it's a farce.

All you're doing is putting lipstick on a pig and calling it a super model.

There's been no crime, yet the dems are driving an investigation on nothing more than opinion.

To put it bluntly, the impeachment inquiry is because, "Orange Man Bad".

Anyone with an IQ above room temperature sees this.

You keep making the same pathetic statement. Ukraine’s prez didn’t even know the money was being held at the time of the call. So exactly how did Trump extort him? Extort him with what? Zelensky said he wasn’t pressured, he certainly wasn’t threatened now was he? Those actions are required in order to extort someone genius. Can you point that out in the call for us where Zelensky was aware he was being extorted? Do you seriously not think Zelensky would know if he was being extorted or not?

I'm not calling anything a super model. Ironically, I think we're both in agreement that Trump has about a snowball's chance in hell of actually getting convicted by the Senate (assuming the HoR actually does eventually pass any articles of impeachment). Because of this, I don't understand why this inquiry has Trump's supporters frothing at the mouth. Let the HoR Dems spin their wheels. Who gives a rats arse? It's not like they have anything better to do. The HoR has already passed over 250 bills sitting on Mitch's desk, and he won't bring anything up for a vote so they've got nothing better to do.

Sit back, relax, and take Mulvaney's advice. Get over it!

On that we can finally agree.

The impeachment "inquiry" has as much substance and depth as a Kardashian Christmas Special.

The only good thing I can think of is that all politicians are so busy trying an attempted coup that they have no time to write stupid laws that would remove more of our freedoms.

There I've gotta disagree. I think it does have substance, but it's only being pursued because it conveniently aligns with their political motivations.

Whoa! Slow down the horse, cowboy! Our two corrupt parties are never too busy to find bi-partisan support for that. Just look at the Patriot Act, NDAA, etc.. Both parties are more than happy to set aside their differences when it comes to removing American freedoms.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to discover they slipped another through while this circus is hogging the media spotlight.
