Well this one predates your request for trance from the 90s but this was the first that I came across.
This is Terry Reilly from 1969. It's Rainbow in Curved Air. It does not have the dramatic heavy drum beat but rather a flowing and fluctuating flow of synthesizer. I first head this at an all night party and it played over and over all night. And boy were we tranced.

I was digging around my closet the other day and found a whole box full of trance tapes from the 90's, tons of them. Also found a few booklets of some old really small stamps in there with them with some neat pictures on them.

I'm pretty sure they are all mine, but I have no memory of listening to those tapes or mailing anything with those tiny stamps.

Oh man, when I got my first car I lined the trunk with Dynamat and put two giant MTX subs in there connected to a Rockford Fosgate amp. I'd drive around blasting the likes of Rotterdam Terror Corps. That car was an absolute terror to anything outside of it... I'd set off car alarms as I drove through town. One time I pulled up to a Turkey Hill (convenience store) and my bass was flexing the windows on the front of the store. It was insane.
