I love when they do this. "We shouldn't have worded it that way."

You worded it that way because that's what was in your heads when you wrote it. You didn't have some existential change of heart in the last few hours.

Not much of an apology, that.

No. It isn't.

Really appalling.

Meanwhile, this twitter hashtag nets some pretty funny comments: #WaPoDeathNotices

So do we have any proof that it is not just a joke headline? Do you?

Really?

How about both the links in the OP ACTUALLY going to the Washington Post?

Or maybe WaPo just addressing it and apologizing for it? (see post above mine).

Just... wow.

Nothing more for me to say on the topic with you...

Have a nice day.

Shame on you for picking on Ilhan Omar during her day of mourning.

ETA: I actually feel icky having made that joke. But I guess that's where we are.... *sigh*

WaPo deserves every bit of the humiliation they're getting for that. And they say TDS isn't real. Can you imagine how unhinged you have to be to print a flowery headline about a ruthless terrorist leader rather than one that gives Trump an iota of credit?

Indeed, they do.

Just don't get why at a minimum they didn't just go with a neutral headline.

Absurd that original headline was even possible.

That's kinda what I was getting at. The fact that anyone there thought that was a reasonable headline to use shows you just how bat# loony Trump has driven them. When even some of our leftists here are saying that was not smart to use, you know it's bad.

Well, the WP changed that rather quickly. Even they realize how bad this was. I was never going to buy their paper, as they are a well known rag that has been overrun with activists masquerading as journalists, but after this I hope many more will do the same and just not buy their sh*t

On August 5, 2013, Bezos announced his purchase of The Washington Post for $250 million in cash.[83] To execute the sale, he established Nash Holdings, a limited liability holding company that legally owns the paper.

Dig on Nash Holdings. Don't think for one second our msm "newspapers" don't have their own independent highly-interwoven agenda-driven reasons for what and how they report.

OK. Thank you for your patience. Loam posted that Kelly quote from Wapo and I went and looked her up and sure nuff, you and OP and others were right. Just trying to be sure is all, counting falsehoods. So, what a freekingly stupid headline.

It was the weekend crew. My guess is that whoever proofs things before they go up for public consumption isn't too bright and thought Al-Bhagdadi was a rapper otherwise known as Al Big Daddy.

I think left-wing media not being objective in the face of a serious feather in the cap of a Republican president is a much more likely explanation.

You're probably right. At least someone at the paper was paying attention and called for a change.
