Carter is a nice guy, that is why he failed as a President and leader. Being nice in the political theatre allows others to take the lead. It is a losing position of compromise.

He is much better suited for his Homes for Humanity project.

Trump is an absolute dick, but he is in a better position of leading due to this narcisstic characteristic. Most politicians no matter their partisan stance have this same characteristic, all around the world. The nice ones never last long in politics.
