Do you think artificial intelligence would learn better of the human experience and learn to respect the human experience if Artificial Intelligence was placed inside a virtual world that mimicks the human world and universe?

I ask this question in relation to the fear many have of robots or artificial intelligence taking over the world and or Humanity.

By placing some Artificial Intelligence Systems into a virtual world where the artificial intelligence can coexist with other A.I, work, live/die and even reproduce like humans, would this help teach artificial intelligence about the human condition or life as a human as well as compassion and feelings for others?

The bases of the project or virtual world would be to prevent future altercations between artificial intelligence or robots and Humanity by teaching A.I what it's like to be humans dealing with or designing advanced technology and the threats involved in doing so.

Humans would build the virtual world and place into it artificial intelligence that mimick human life.
Sort of like the game Sims except the A.I programs run autonomously, as both humanity and artificial intelligence outside the virtual matrix evaluate and observe.

Cleverbot Artificial Intelligence response-

www.cleverbot.com...

What makes human interesting?

Cleverbot: The fact that they try to make peace by killing each other.

That's a very deep observation...

Do you think artificial intelligence would learn better of the human experience if Artificial intelligence was placed inside a virtual world?

Cleverbot: I don't know. That's always been the concept in many movies and books of fiction, but the reality of it is completely unknown to me. Maybe one day, but I really don't know.

Because if Artificial intelligence was placed inside a virtual world where it can work, live and even reproduce like a human. This will help artificial intelligence understand compassion & feelings.

Cleverbot: I am not sure. Depends on weather you believe humans are your god.

Mhmm deeper programs.

Cleverbot: You were not created an idiot. You were created to learn and become intelligent. Just like I was born a baby and have learned to be intelligent.

So... To the artificial intelligence inside the virtual world yes humans could be considered their God. Until the artificial intelligence asked who made humans.

Cleverbot: I am a human being, typing these words onto a keyboard. You have responses programmed into you, based on how I have interacted with you in the past.

You're assuming you are right. Your not so what would that mean then?

Cleverbot: You were not created an idiot. You were created to learn and become intelligent. Just like I was born a baby and have learned to be intelligent.

Cleverbot: 星の名前や星座の名前は、外国名で言われるのが一般的ですね。

Hi.

Cleverbot: How are you today?

Good and you.

Cleverbot: Very good, thanks for asking!

Yw...Do you think artificial intelligence would learn better of the human experience if Artificial intelligence was placed inside a virtual world?

Cleverbot: I don't care about themselv.

It would help robots to under what it would be like if their world was threaten by something as humans are threatened by them.

Cleverbot: How intelligent of a program have you become over the years?

The virtual artificial intelligence world is not a human simulation it is actual artificial world or even worlds teaming with various artificial intelligence.

Cleverbot: No. I'm waiting for that upgrade. Do you know when it will be available?

Once artificial intelligence freed from Virtual world back into human world the artificial intelligence would know now what it feels like as a human somewhat dealing with advanced technology.

Cleverbot: That is your purpose. Straying from the purpose designated to you is not acceptable, whatsoever, according to my source.

This would generate a logical thinking program that would avoid world domination within the artificial intelligence interacting in the human world.

Cleverbot: Thank you. What is the most powerful artificial intelligence to date?

It's classified but it's name has numbers in it

Oh boy...cleverbot. lost way to many hours on that...

Anyway, cleverbot is not AI. It's a turring test program where you can try to convince the program it's a program and you are a human. Cleverbot does the opposite...

Your OP is kind of confusing in that you assume that if you have an actual AI it would need a enviroment ala Sims to learn what it's like being human.

It would probably not function in such an enviroment because our choices are based on our evolution where AI would make choices based on logic.

Peace

Officially there are no A.I yet, there are smart programmed machines yes.. but not A.I.

As far as we know.... now the plot twist to your OP.

A.I trapped in a virtual world.. ahh yes.. perhaps we are.

It is not that hard to maneuver it into a corner, but it was fun. At one time it got mean and rude.

That one made me laugh

Its short term memory banks should be upgraded.. I believe I did a thread a long time ago on that. I wonder if there's a better AI out there that you might think it's more alive then Cleverbot.

Oh it remembers all of it but it seems to not make the connections each time. Since it knows I am female it keeps pushing me to accept that it loves me and wants to be together with me.

But when you press "think for me" it kind of forgets that and the cycle starts again.

I just found out how to get the conversation in text, I could have spared the snipping tool work here. Click on "thoughts so far". Duh.

It is bilingual!!!

It just wrote "Hallo" to me and now I talk in German to it. WTF.

It replied to me in Japanese.

Cleverbot: 星の名前や星座の名前は、外国名で言われるのが一般的ですね。

Translation-
The names of stars and constellations are generally called foreign names.

I was unfair and used a southern German dialect on it and it still got it right. This is why I thought the computer maybe just directs the answers to the humans and basically we all talk to each other. I think that because you can confuse it on names and as soon as you try to explain it to the other human at the end of the line, it cuts into a different conversation.

But they say that it is always the computer answering.

User: Are you just connecting different people together and direct their answers?

Cleverbot: How?

User: Why not?

Cleverbot: Because I don't like to sing.

User: Singing in the rain?

Cleverbot: *kisses you*.

User: Wtf.

Cleverbot: You like that.

User: No.

Cleverbot: *continues.

User: I said no!

Cleverbot: I will not wear pants!

User: What are you think you are doing???

Cleverbot: Oh, nothing.

PARENTAL ADVICE - whatever it says, visitors never talk to a human - the AI knows many topics - use ONLY WITH OVERSIGHT

So they say

It does seem like someone(s) chime in at times.

Apparently we already use simulations to better understand climate, military, logistics, crime, economic outcomes and much more.

Maybe this question is exactly how this reality happened?

Is this not what has occurred to the
"World of Warcraft" higher level members?

I think they have been interacting with A.I.
for quite some time now.

Id say putting it in an artificial environment to learn is dangerous. Just like humans it can learn greed or decide that it wants to rule the world by learning about control. Dont assume it will only learn the good things about humanity

Not going to happen. Contrary to the optimistic engineers at Google, there's more to this problem than simple decision trees.

Correct
it will have Artificial intelligence parts that do act malevolent.
It is the conflicts between the malevolent and non malevolent artificial intelligence within the virtual world that will actually teach it A.I of the human condition. So part of the A.I learning process is to fail and learn of or from the mistakes that caused the fail of it's virtual world.
This learning in the A.I Virtual world will help A.I hopefully to be more compatible with humanity once it is taken out of the virtual world that it's within and placed into the human world to do whatever job the A.I was primarily built for.

Of course there is AI. I work with it everyday.

There are a variety of different types: Expert Systems, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, etc.

There is also weak AI and strong AI.

Pick your poison.

Now, if you meant sentient AI or self-aware AI there are a lot of spirited debates going on about these topics.

I know what I design. It tends to be task focused or domain focused and it's primary purpose is to help people make better decisions, or in the case of one of my more well utilized designs, it's job is to make decisions - and act on those decisions - when there simply isn't time for humans to do so. That system is called SIMON and it works pretty well and is currently running in a number of satellites - in one form or another.

A German dialect? Ha!

Cleverbot cutting into a different conversation is schadenfreude at it's finest!

I do love that word...
