Two women are making history today.
An all female EVA to repair the international space station.

"NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch are conducting the first all-female spacewalk outside of the International Space Station. "

Kinda nice to see american female astronauts making history in space. Usually the Russians beat us to it..

Svetlana Savitskaya was the first woman in 1984 and a dozen other women have done spacewalks.

Welcome to the history books ladies.

Proof that a woman's place is in the kitchen...or space kitchen.

Mission controllers were also tracking the lost bag, which they say is floating well clear of the station and drifting further away.

Probably because no other country cares about making history like that. They'd rather send up the most qualified people. If it's all men, fine. If it's all women, fine. If it's mixed, fine. I'm pretty sure America and the UK are the only ones trying to set history like this.

Good for the two women, and not to take away from them being sent as they were trained, but it's not really something to celebrate because it's just two. It's not like it's a big group. All female shuttle mission to the moon, walk on the moon, and come back would be something that catches the attention of the world.

This is number 4 for Koch.
First for meir.

It's not a PR stunt in my opinion. Both are qualified to be there.

It took this many years!?

New record for a woman getting ready to go out... That's got to be the longest 10 minutes in history!

No, it is the first all female spacewalk. Quality time so to speak.

Wonder what they argued over?

On a serious note,
for equality huh?

The more special we try to make certain people, the less special we all become.
Kudos to the ladies for making it look easy.

Ummm, OK.

Good for them, but after being told for so long that women can do anything, this is to be expected, right?

Were they all blond?

My wife said if it was their makeup bag, they never would have lost it.

Might be happening now for all we know. Don't you dare tell her she's not a woman making history.

Well it was a tool bag to be precise. There was a grease gun inside, though so you may be onto something here. Space Thanksgiving?

More serious now...

Are there any turkey astronauts yet?

I would not recognize it unless they said they were beforehand but it's possible. The first sex in space, has that happened? Sure it has but unit I see the headline, "The First 220 Mile Club Members".

So why is this a big history in the making thing? Personally, I find it insulting, like a pity participation award or title they hand out like candy!

Ooh...not just one woman but TWO!

I think it's because women have been told for so long that we've been denied everything because we've been oppressed that even though we can attempt virtually anything so there are a good many places we've gone, they have to shout about any little thing a woman has never, ever done before.

You wait. They'll be celebrating the first time a woman takes a dump on Mars like it's historic.
