V.P. Pence and a USA delegation are suppose to arrive in Turkey on Thursday to try to work things out about a cease fire and to stop the invasion. It would seem that Erdogan is not in the mood to change his plans.. I

It is amazing and interesting to me when the players are considered .. USA, IRAN, Syria, (maybe some China mixed in) and the Russians not to mention Turkey which has precipitated this latest mess.

ANKARA (Reuters) - President Tayyip Erdogan told U.S. President Donald Trump that Turkey will never declare a ceasefire in northeastern Syria and that it will not negotiate with Kurdish forces it is fighting in its offensive into the region.

However, speaking to reporters on a flight back from Baku, Erdogan said the offensive would continue until it reaches its aims, and added that he was not worried about sanctions.

“They say ‘declare a ceasefire’. We will never declare a ceasefire,” Erdogan said. “They are pressuring us to stop the operation. They are announcing sanctions. Our goal is clear. We are not worried about any sanctions,” he said.

We will not know what the next deal will be until V.P. Pence has a chance to meet with Erdogan... I have no idea how anyone can save face in this mess but I ain't a politician either..

Russia says 'unacceptable' Turkish incursion into Syria must be temporary

ABU DHABI/MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia called Turkey’s military incursion into northeast Syria “unacceptable” and said on Tuesday the operation had to be limited in time and scale, a rare broadside that suggests Moscow’s patience with Ankara is wearing thin.

Nothing but words as no time table of Turkey to pull out was set in the statement. Turkey and Syria do have a 1998 agreement that Turkey can invade up to 10 K to conduct counter-terrorism operations..

“We didn’t agree with the Turks any questions about their presence in Syria and we don’t approve of their actions,” envoy Alexander Lavrentiev told reporters in Abu Dhabi during an official visit there by Putin.

He said Turkish troops had the right under an agreement struck between Damascus and Ankara in 1998, the Adana pact, to temporarily push up to a maximum of 10 km (6 miles) into Syria to conduct counter-terrorism operations.

Er umm, who dropped over 60 missiles on Syrian civilians killing least 100 over the past 2 years?

Sounds like US hypocrisy.

PS actions speak louder than words..

Assuming your numbers are correct....

What's your point? You think Turkey, a dictatorship who oppresses their own people and just jailed someone for a meme is going to do humanitarian good in the region?

Trump told them to stop and we know that Trump is feared and respected in the world so Turkey will probably stop this morning.

Ya know, it kind of sounds like the "stable genius" managed to walk us into a trap? From what I am reading we have troops in this mess now with no safe exit? We might have to airlift them out? How much you wanna bet we are forced to take a side in this, just to get our troops safely home? We can either stand with turkey and fight against our own allies the kurds or we can side with russia and fight against a NATO ally...
And, if we do end up airlifting them out, wonder just how much will be left behind to fall into isis hands?
Russia AND turkey played trump like a violin!!

So like US so far away but on an imperial NWO mission been bombing and killing (and gassing) Syrian civs forward to seeing past 2 years via proxy (blaming Assad) and still has 10,000 DOD contract troops there as double agents there for both ISIS and 'Democratic' rebel fighters to ensure continued destabilization of all sovereign govs in the region and ppl can't see the bigger picture with global police upset with Turks maintaining welfare checks on the hood?

a reply to: serpo

We're far from perfect, and I don't think we have much business telling other nations how to handle their house...

But the Turks want genocide. It's possible to be critical of the US's foreign policy while also saying the Erdogan is worse.
