Hello, a (very) long time since I logged in and probably my first post (after 5+ years membership).

On Yahoo Home page this evening, a link to this article:
Mysterious Orbs Filmed Hovering Off the Outer Banks Ignite UFO Debate
Mysterious Orbs - Article from Southern Living

The YouTube clip is short, and filmed in portrait mode(!), the person filming pans around a lot - no idea why.
The clip is short, however when he settles on the Orbs - it is interesting.
Here is a direct link to the YouTube Video:

If actually filmed away from land, this might well be interesting - as it would preclude lanterns and drones.

I am always skeptical however this is an interesting catch.

Thoughts?

(Moderators, I searched through the Forum and could not find this video, apologies if it is posted, please delete if this is a duplicate)

Looks like Chinese lanterns to me. If it's being filmed from a ferry, that means land is fairly close. At least close enough that the lanterns could float over the water or appear to be over the water.

Agreed - my conjecture would be lanterns, either over land, or maybe launched from another ship...

They look like a flock of Chinese lanterns probably launched from some boat.

The person shooting the video only seemed to be slightly interested in these objects, since he/she didn't stay with them for more than 10 seconds. Maybe a common sight in that area.

Flares from military aircraft in the area.

It's really hard to say if those are flares or lanterns from such short lenght. It's also weird that he keeps panning camera. Almost like it was nothing exciting at all...

Chinese lanterns??
More likely to be flares than lanterns, in my opinion.
