Math is a tool that people use to get an abstract/simpler handle on the Universe.
Our brains are full of cartoons. Reality is very complex, maybe infinitely.
Trying to determine the underlying principles of the Universe is to grasp a way of predicting what will happen. Crystal balls may not work, but
complex math may give you a crude handle on things.
I do worry though, if we can predict everything at some point will the Universe lose all its mystery? In many ways we do seem headed that direction.
Electronic money and records makes everything much easier to track. I suppose, though, that ingenious people will find ways around that too.
