I second that motion DB

These things take time and while they may not be guilty of anything, you don't have to commit a crime in order to be impeached, 'cause that's what the left are saying.

"Now what?"

Um. Impeachment still. They don't need him to cooperate to impeach him. Another President tried the same tactic and hint hint it didn't work out for him either.

There is no reason to comply with it right now. There has been no vote taken, so it's not a legal impeachment process at the moment.

You do know that congress does not need to be in an impeachment for them to have oversight and investigative powers of the executive branch right?

Congressional oversight powers are limited to those instance that concern and is in furtherance of legislating. They do not extend to basically what ever they want--exactly for this reason. Even then, it only touches on executive agencies with respect to their legislative mandates, if any. The President, the head of the co-equal executive branch is not subject to direct legislative oversight.

Surly him not cooperating makes this look even worse for him?

Actually, it shows the Democrats won’t allow him due process, which is a violation of his rights.

We are only at the investigative stage, no charges have been brought yet, so what part of due process is being violated?

The right to call witnesses, the right to cross examine, the right for the Republicans in the House to participate...

This isn't an investigation.

It's a coup attempt, an attempt to influence the 2020 election.

Nothing more.

You are thinking of a trial, you call witnesses and cross examine them in a trial, which in this case would be held in the senate and has nothing to do with what the house is doing.

I am thinking of an impeachment inquiry in a House subcommittee.

You know, how it has ALWAYS been done in American history until now.

I don't understand why on this good green Earth that they just don't take the freeking vote. I mean come on Dems, take the freekin vote. If it passes then we can expect the WH to cooperate, right? Ha. They should take the vote so that Trump can find another excuse to stonewall.

We should start impeachment inquiries on Warren, Biden, and Sanders (bless his heart) just to make sure.

That would be fine with me but from what I've read no representative or senator can be impeached. They can only be removed by the voters at the ballot box or by their own house members voting them out. That will never happen and most voters are uneducated and/or just don't care so that won't happen either.

The WH is legally correct. Nothing to see here but some who scoff at the rule of law. They then use their iron grip on the press in an attempt to smear that rule of law as much as possible when they know good and well it can't be smeared. Vote or impeachment. That is what the press should be saying.

It's all coming to a head now. Prosecutor John Durham says he's found "criminal activities" from the Obama Administration. We already know that I.G. Horowitz did.

When Pelosi calls the emergency “What are we gonna do now?” meeting, she is going to say “We should have just worked with Trump, now we are all going down”

ALL Democrats who thought President Trump wouldn't KEEP ANOTHER PROMISE when he said, "I'll hit them back like they've never been hit before!", is living in a fantasy land. They'll get EXACTLY what they deserve for their lack of comprehension.

He also said he would be the most transparent, but another promise failed.

OK thisis the what 7-8th investigation? so yeah he is 7 times more transparent than any other President

wait until the Next Democrat President, they will be impeached in 30 days. Precedent!!!

How many bengahzi investigations?

How many Fast and Furious?

How many IRS investigations under Obama?

How many Whitewater?

So dont act like the GOP has not done this before or it would be something new under the next democratic president. It is par for the course in these political times.

OH, I see you are upset that they have a lawyer getting depositions? You dont normally have get to call witnesses or cross examine people in depositions, you just have your own deposition of the same person and ask them the questions you want. But for the defense that normally happens after charges are brought.

A senator or Rep can't be impeached, but they can be expelled. The only difference is it is the chamber they serve that votes on that expulsion and it requires a 2/3rds majority same as the Senate vote on impeachment. Otherwise, it is identical. A censure is the next highest form of penalty the chamber can hit a seated member with and requires only a basic majority... Elizabeth Warren was the last Senator to receive one, as far as I know, recevied for blatantly lying about and castigating the character of Jeff Sessions.

trump just hired trey gowdy as an outside council for the upcoming impeachment process, the same trey gowdy that failed hard with Hillary and Benghazi.
Meaning, rudy isn't his worst lawyer anymore?

On topic, The White House is desperate to stop the slide in public opinion and has decided stonewalling and refusing to cooperate is its last, best option. But the public rightfully will see this as evidence of guilt. If you have nothing to hide, why won't you permit testimony?
No real surprise to see trumps deranged support here celebrate this as some kind of a weird win for justice however.

Without the actual vote, the White House is not "obstructing justice" they're obstructing the Democrats. That's the difference, since some seem confused, between this process without a vote and the process once it has been ratified officially... sans that vote it's one party operating unilaterally in a personal grievance, nothing more. The fact that Schiff et al are talking about as "obstruction of justice" simply demonstrates the overinflated egos and smug senses of self worth the Dems are cavorting around with.

well you know the Democrats are terrified of the FISA report

and they are scared to hold a simple vote, it's so easy but no

can't take a vote on impeachment

Smoke and mirrors from the left.

Cowards.

What do you think they are voting on? They arent gonna vote to actually impeach the president till they investigate. Which they are trying to investigate, trump just keeps throwing roadblocks in the way. After they investigate to the point that they feel they have enough to back up a case for impeachment they will draw up the articles of impeachment and bring that to a vote in the full house. If it passes, it will be like an indictment which will be sent to the senate for the hearing.
Impeachment is not necessary for them to investigate and obtain information, bring witnesses into their chambers for questioning, or even get his income tax records. And although executive priveledge might be a legitimate claim in some occasions, they are abusing that priviledge terribly.

You honestly believe they care that much about an artificial construct of the media narrative machine?

They were real investigations, not all worked though. Whitewater and Fast and Furious were busts, Benghazi did a number on Hillary even though they found nothing to blame on her. IRS investigation was a slam dunk politically.
