After I finished basic training and several tests I was put into the NSA pipeline. I was sent to Syracuse Univ to study Russian taught by native Russian instructors. Our little enclave was called "Skytop". Once the 9 month course was over, it was on to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas for a 3 month radio course. While there, a class of Spanish linguists was going through the same radio course in another room. On breaks, though I would speak Spanish with the guys who were all native speakers.
Anyway, I wound up being assigned to the 6947th at Boca Chica, FL, monitoring the Cuban Air Force. Never did use Russian in an official capacity, but I loved the Russian instructors, great people!

I'm sure anything hes talking about is declassified and available for public consumption. Pretty sure any secrecy oaths or classifications he may have taken usually expire after 50 years.

I was raised bilingually and biculturally. I'm a true Tex-Mex! Russian, I have my dictionary. Vietnamese, well, if you could count from 0 to 9, that's basically all you needed, since about 95% of the traffic was 4 digit code groups.

I also remembered, after logging off, seeing MK-type programming language used, specifically, the word "onion".
