I mean, you guys are almost as good as we are, even if you're only #1.

My son married a girl from Georgia whose family are died hard Dawgs fans. The first time I met them, I stuck out my hand and said "Roll Tide!" Her Momma stuck hers out and said, "How 'bout them Dawgs?"

Both kids were cringing in the background waiting for the brawl to start, lol.

Dawgs are good this year. I pull for them now when they're playing a winnable game (as in, any game not against 'Bama).

Alabama fans are damm loyal too. They all want to see Jalen Hurts go undefeated untill that game lol. And they want him to be a very close second in the heisman..

You know what we love about Jalen? When the chips were down for that starting quarterback position, he stepped back because he believed Tua was better for the team. He put the team first. That's character right there! As far as I am concerned, he'll always be an Alabama quarterback to me. OK needs to give their preacher a raise since he changed over.

Heck, I won't cry if he gets the Heismann. I mean, he's not going to go undefeated this year, so it's a small consolation gift.

It's more than just money here. I was shocked when I saw what Saban's salary came out to (close to $6 million if I recall correctly), but on top of that, I'd bet he has never paid for a meal in a restaurant since his first win over Bama. The man is a god in Tuscaloosa! Governor Kay Ivey pays homage to Nick Saban.

Like I said, football is big down here.

That's the case in Washington. UW head coaches are the highest paid state employees.

I ended up checking, 40 out of 50 were college sports coaches.

Y'all have another great offense this year... In fact, almost as great as LSU's...

Y'all are coming along pretty good yourself. Too bad you have to play us... you might have gotten to the championship.

I finally got to see Tua's brother play! Damn, he's good. If anything, his arm is a little more accurate than Tua's. By the time Tua graduates, he'll be ready to step right into his shoes.

We do have to work on our defense, though. We are still winning, but the real season is coming up now: SEC teams. I saw a lot of mental errors last week.

TheRedneck

We're statistically even for the most part. LSU is #32 in defense, Alabama in #38. Our offense is 3rd and 4th. I want to see a rematch between Tulia and Peter Parrish. They faced off in the Alabama State Championship before both left for LSU and Alabama. Parrish's team won something like 55-10.

Both of us need work on our defense but LSU has had 4 key players out that will be rested and back when we play UF next weekend. But the last time both Alabama and LSU were this dominate, it was a 3 point OT win in the Game of the Century and we both went to the BCSNC. The same could happen again this year if it all plays out the same, regardless of who loses our match up. Right now, Alabama is #4 with 52 points per game, LSU is #1 with 58 per game. And who falls in the #2 and #3 spot? OU and OSU.

Hell his only competition in the regular season will be Texas. That's a little better than Clemson's schedule.

Imagine OU with Alabama's former QB vs Alabama and LSU with Ohio State's former QB vs OSU. Or OSU with UGA's former QB vs UGA.

And, just so we're not straying too far off topic, where are those Golden Bears? I don't see them ranked...

Maybe Cal should start actually playing football instead of trying to tell others how to.

Do we even play Ohio this year?

Hmmm.... nope, sorry.

Don't feel bad. With practice, you might be considered good enough for the challenge next year.

I really don't watch or get into the games much, even though my alma mater, but I know you guys have a really good team (as usual). Not sure how GA will do this year, but their standing tends to increase because of the unranked teams they play—until they have to fight formidable ones.

SEC championship was good last year though.

They will. It's a violation of their policies to pay players so CA, in an attempt to get their players money and recognition, will instead suppress them to play in state, thus eliminating their chance to get noticed. It's ironic and funny at the same time.

California seems to like to make their own rules and try to force everyone to play by their rules.

I have always thought college athletes should be allowed to profit from their own names.

The one argument against it as so lame . That they are getting a free education.. what a crock.

They work their asses off for those scholarships. Nothing is free.

A kid who went to out school was just a natural athlete, he was also extremely lazy and a Bully.

But because he was good at basketball. he went to a great college where he didint even need to attend classes.

Today he makes millions and hasn't changed a bit.
Million dollar home. barley any furniture, never any food. all take out.

And about 3 days a week its heavy partying with some real sinister stuff happening at those parties.
Mostly to women.

These grownups playing sports. Making millions is ridiculous.

No other country could even offer that, so many should thank the success of the u.s. sports programs to be able to offer that kind of money to people with athletic abilities.
And it's mostly the poor and uneducated getting this opportunity. Lol

So? If people can earn millions for playing a game I don't begrudge them a penny, I'm a free market capitalist, not some commie or socialist.

I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with this. They're not going to get a salary from the state, it is simply to allow them to capitalize on "who they are."

You're a superstar college athlete and want to make some cash doing an autograph signing at the local mall? Sure, why not? Maybe just don't allow it to be done in uniform, or advertised as "USC Cornerback so-and-so will be at the Moose Lodge signing autographed 8x10s of him in a Coca-Cola shirt, Nike shoes and Levi's jeans this Sunday at noon!"

I got paid to be in a commercial when I was in college. It was only $100, and I wasn't chosen because I was one of the top college baseball players in the nation (I wasn't, not by far!) -but why should capitalism not be allowed to flourish? Why is there so much anti-American sentiment with this?

What harm comes from these guys being able to make a better life for themselves?

If the NCAA says no, the schools can probably form their own Athletics Association - though I imagine that may take time, court cases and money. Either way, I suspect the outrage from many who are otherwise typically pro-capitalism / pro-freedom is that they're college sports fans and don't want the best players heading to CA instead of their beloved teams.

Anyone who has been paying attention to this issue for the past 5-10 years knows this was coming. All of the states are going to open up to it and we'll be seeing college sports players advertising for the local Chevy dealer all over the country soon. Where's the problem?
