The president is not a representative, he is an administrator. Elected by the states, not by the people.
It's too bad Congress has given the president so much power.

It's always been a minority.
However, given that Presidents don't ever get elected based on the votes of the majority makes the point fairly moot.
There are 52 separate races in a Presidential election, not just 1 American race.
Trump got the most votes in 31 of those races, which is why he is the President.
I can't actually think of a single nation on earth that elects a leader based on the majority of votes nationwide. That system has long since died out because it leads to mob rule and destoys nations.
