I can tell you without a doubt that Conservatives rarely vote here in California because it's pointless. Aside from the Presidential election, the Senatorial and House votes feature the top two candidates from the primaries which are almost always Democrats. I live in coastal San Diego and I see far more Trump stickers on cars than ever before despite the fact that having one means your car will probably get vandalized. California won't matter for Trump in 2020 but many people here, especially Hispanics, are frustrated with the tax and spend policies of these far-left Democrats who run the state.

Right. But the thing is that the presidency is special, and the Framers knew that because they invented the system.
The president is not a representative, he is an administrator. Elected by the states, not by the people.

It's too bad Congress has given the president so much power.

The President's power is derived form the constitution, not Congress.
The Executive branch is an equal branch of govt. not a subserviant branch that gets power given to it by Congress.

The majority of Americans have never voted for a President in any election.
It's always been a minority.

However, given that Presidents don't ever get elected based on the votes of the majority makes the point fairly moot.
There are 52 separate races in a Presidential election, not just 1 American race.
Trump got the most votes in 31 of those races, which is why he is the President.

I can't actually think of a single nation on earth that elects a leader based on the majority of votes nationwide. That system has long since died out because it leads to mob rule and destoys nations.

See? You get it. It's a darn shame that so many here in the US don't get it.

We do not have a National Election For President.

How do you know? Only AMERICAN CITIZENS should be able to vote..but since it's possible for non-citizens to vote we will never know who the majority of AMERICANS vote for.

Well put. Here is a simple analogy.

Popular vote country: Two wolves and a sheep vote on whats for dinner. Not good for the sheep.

Constitutional Republic: Two wolves and a sheep vote on whats for dinner. The constitution states that sheep have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness just like Wolves. Therefore the sheep are not eaten and they can exist despite the fact that they are a minority.
