I swear.. the hate this girl is getting by the right is ridiculous..... FFS.. she's 16.

Hear we go again HATE thats a strong word and no way near the truth

why does it need to be hate? are people so limited in language?

How about disdain? indifference? dislike?

What is ridiculous is that at 16 years and with a lack of life's experiences

she is lecturing not from personal knowledge, but that gleaned from others

knowledge of the subject.

So a person that could very well be forced into a lethal situation due to actions of world leaders should not be allowed to have a voice?

They should just suck it up and die like a good, obedient, soldiers?

You do realize that it's this kind of mentality that leads the youth to buck the status quo and speak out, right?

Also, she comes from a country that banned the movie "E.T." because they didn't want their youth to get the idea in their heads that government officials are not necessarily trustworthy.

Since I don't watch news agencies at all, this is my own opinion. She's 16, I'm never going to take her seriously. I will never take any 16 year old seriously due to the nature of how 16 year old's are. As for her and other children inheriting the planet, not my problem. It's wonderful to be able to say that, because unless something happens in the next 40ish years, I really don't care. She has a handler, all of the kids do, look at David Hogg. Sorry, kids don't get a seat at the grownup table until they've earned it.

Philo Farnsworth was 14 years old when he prepared his first ever sketch for a prototype device that could display electronically produced images, later known as television.

Samuel Colt was 16 when he made his first gun.

Both of those have achieved more than you at the age of 16.

What was that again?

The arrogancy and ignorance on this site is rampant

They believe what they are saying. The actors aren't always aware they are there to fill a role... that doesn't stop others from exploiting.

This isn't the early 1900's or 1800's anymore, the kids haven't grown up, most of them never will.

I thought I was pretty clear about that aspect, times have changed.

You mean.. like most people on climate change?

How manu people who disagree that climate change is effected by mankind actually read extensive studies about it?

I can't claim i have any personal knowledge either.

Well, why don't you show some humility and lead by example? Maybe admit this girl is being used as a prop? A lot of people have opinions at young ages, yet she is given a platform on the world stage... why is that? She's being promoted. Lol.

Did someone pick this girls name from a hat? Was she hand picked? Out of the millions voicing their concerns she stood out? She is a plant/ prop.. Her average looks and a face most would consider non combative... Yea..she fits the prototype.a reply to: Bhadhidar

Wait..so this brave and intelligent young girl has the right to lecture us about climate change policies, yet gets a pass because she, and her parents, apparently don't have the wherewithal to look into T-shirts they were given to wear in the lead up to her big speech? Really?

She was born in 2003.

I wonder if she had lived through the mass hysteria that was Y2K if she would have a slightly different outlook on the panicky nature of human beings and how we are routinely wrong in our predictions, terrible at prophecy, and just generally kind of stupid about the world around us.

Ironically I was about 16 when the Y2k thing hit... taught me a lot about people, the news, and how the sheep herd.
