Is there still that horrendous strawberry milk? If so, that's what needs banning.

Kids are not adults. They don't have freedom to choose. Should we also let them choose to go to school?

Your argument is just plain stupid. I can't tell if you're trolling or just pn some pointless abortion & chocolate milk rant...

First of all, those who go to school includes young adults up to 18 years of age.
Second of all, even kids can make some choices for themselves... I guess if a kid like let's say "Lindsey Stirling" whom wanted to learn to play the violin when she was just 6 years of age you would argue that her parents should have forced her to choose to become a doctor?...

Even kids should have some layway in what they can choose... BTW, the argument that "kids choosing to drink chocolate milk is as bad as kids choosing not to go to school" is what is stupid and inane.

Heck, i grew up learning how to take apart radios that weren't working and taught myself how to make them work which eventually led me to learn computer and electronic engineering. But heck, my parents should have forced me not to play with radios, at first they did get mad but I kept on doing what I liked, and instead should have forced me to become a lawyer...

Why not go all the way and make the school diet entirely vegan while they're at it? Of replace the milk with something sustainable like cockroach milk?

I hear rat is a good chicken substitute. Their free range and never factory framed.

Although be wary about city rats... they poison them and the ones that live have toxins in their livers. So don't eat their livers.

As a child I couldn’t drink straight white milk without throwing it right back up. I could drink chocolate milk and I could have white milk in my cereal but straight milk, nope. Something about it just doesn’t agree with my taste buds, even as I got older I tried and had the same results as I did as a child. I remember having to take a note to school in kindergarten to allow me to have chocolate milk instead of white milk. Strange I know but to this day that’s the way it is.

NY state is a nanny state and they will continue to push the boundaries until people say enough is enough. Bloomberg tried banning sodas over 16 oz a few years ago and got shot down by the Supreme Court. I doubt the chocolate milk ban will end any different. I’m not against healthier living by any means, what I am against is an over reaching government that wants to control my life and make decisions for me that I’m perfecting capable of making on my own.

The kids will be selling chocolate milk at the bus stop, the playground, the school bathrooms or from their lockers if they ban it from the school menu. They are just teaching the kids how to start an illegal black market business so they can grow up to be drug dealers and pimps. If they make enough cash, they could bribe the teachers and the principal and learn to become drug lords, organized crime king pins, or politicians. Probably the most productive lesson from the NY public school system's curriculum.

I wonder if they have soda distributors in those schools?

An oldie now but I remember back in the 70s as a young child at school getting that bottle of milk (And a cardboard straw) during the morning break and loving it...

Until that fatal day when I slugged down half a bottle of sour milk straight from the bottle neck and honked up promptly... Rocket style all over my desk mate and surrounding area...

She never got back to my handwritten note afterwards asking if she wanted to be my girlfriend! (Note at the time was « Will you go out with me? Tick yes or no)

I was 8 years old... she broke my little heart...

I was a kid and all i ate was bosco sticks (cheap bread) and chocolate milk too. It's a crappy diet, but i was a kid. Most kids don't pay attention to diet.

You need to be reprogrammed, you're not outraged ,get with the program.

It seems the op is worried that banning chocolate milk in schools will lead to these kids wanting to have abortions when they are older. It's a slippery slope man.....

Some of these kids walk or bus home in gang riddled neighborhoods and they are worried about chocolate milk and green energy....

I mean they already made a meatless day so why not?

I'm just pissed because I was 'that kid' who had to take the regular white milk....oh the shame...

What does abortion have to do with removing unnecessary unhealthy chocolate milk from their diet?

Freedom to choose? So.. should we also put out rice crispies and snicker bars because kids should have the right to choose what to eat...

It's an 'expose' of leftist mayhem and confusion. Banning straws first, big gulp slushies and now chocolate milk.

New York cheese cake is next on their list. BEWARE

This is what happens when officials are made up of those with extreme psychotic behaviors and self aggrandizement tendencies. Really Wacky nut cases are running the show.

Soon enough lefties, including a few whom responded to this thread, will be calling for banning "getting a second scoop of ice cream..." After all, POTUS Trump likes getting 2 scoops of ice cream...

Holy cow.

The city Department of Education wants to ban chocolate milk from public schools, The Post has learned.

Citing health concerns, including sugar content, Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza and his underlings are pushing for a white-milk-only policy, DOE sources said.

“The thinking is that these kids are already getting too much sugar, why are they getting it in their milk?’’ one DOE source said, adding that higher-ups “are discussing what to do and how to do it.’’

Amazing... the left-wing authoritarians in New York now are banning "chocolate milk..." The horror!!!

Chocolate milk must be evil, meanwhile these are the same morons whom are okay with killing the unborn up to the day they are to be born, and if the child survives the abortion it is completely legal in New York to let the child die by himself/herself and this is just fine and dandy with demonrats/socialists in New York even celebrating being able to murder what essentially are babies...

Demonrats in New York are worried about "milk chocolate" and allowing children to choose chocolate milk, I grew up drinking lots of chocolate milk, but apparently the freedom of choosing what to eat, or drink is a no no in New Hell York...

Yeah, this is terrible. I do my level best to feed my kid healthy nutritious food at home, then they go to school and get artificial garbage left right and center.

Doesn't matter what I put in their lunches if they can simply undo it all in the cafeteria.

Hoe about some choice for parents?

Fine give kids healthy options. But this isn't that. It's forcing kids to have only the options you prefer them to have. If you will have milk, it will be only the milk the bureaucrats deem to be acceptable. For example, I'd be upset if the schools decided to only allow my kid to have skim milk. Some people deem that to be only healthy milk available, but I disagree. When you make skim milk, you remove most of what makes milk healthy and leave behind the sugars in the milk making it as close to sugar water as you can process out of natural milk.

If we're having milk, we'll be drinking whole milk and simply control the portion size to account for the fat in it.

Or maybe serving chocolate Milk is what happeneds when officials are still living in 1990 and believing the "kids need milk" dairy propaganda.

Or maybe this is a story about how Republicans are just as much as snowflakes as their left counterparts. Look how triggered Op and others are over simply removing a unhealthy option in the school lunch curriculum.

Hmm.. you have a point. However, chocolate milk is candy. It's a desert. It shouldn't be a standard drink in lunches. I understand if they ban everything but skim milk, because that would be some sort of favoritism. Yet, this story is about removing candy from everyday school diets.

It just seems like right-leaning folk want to be outraged for no other reasons than "democrats did it, they trying to tell us what to eat!!!!".

Milk isn't a neccessary part of the diet. Especially chocolate milk.

Should children be allowed to eat and drink whatever they want? If you have a 5 year old and they decide they're only going to eat candy and soda from now on, will you feed them nothing but candy and soda for every meal?
We need to start seriously addressing the obesity epidemic that is plaguing this country, and that starts by teaching kids how to eat properly and exercise. There's a reason the United States has the highest rate of obesity in the world, one that continues to increase.

What's wrong with a dessert?

I've often heard it said that by the drug legalization crowd that the best way to make sure someone goes nuts with something is to make it forbidden.

We eat healthy, but at the same time, our kid gets a dessert after his supper most nights if he eats his dinner. We don't want to raise him with the idea that sugar is the devil, but with the idea that it's empty food and won't do anything for him so it needs to be kept to a small treat.

Similarly, we don't outright ban soda, but we don't keep it in our house, and he maybe gets to have it once a week when we go out. Or it's something he gets when he's with other kids. If someone at the school brings in a candy treat, I don't have an issue with that most times.

Eating properly alone isn't the key. Kids also need exercise, and we're still failing them on that front.

I don't know if they've found a way to synthesize insects into a milk-like substance or not, but it's merely a reference to how they are trying to insist we should all eat insect proteins as the only sustainable future source.

Not really , they want to stop it in school , if kids want chocolate milk get it after school.

“The thinking is that these kids are already getting too much sugar, why are they getting it in their milk?’’

So what's wrong with that , seems like a sensible suggestion to help combat expanding waistlines.

No doubt unflavoured milk will still be available.
