If you look at the previous images from the same spot, they only show the bad pixel at the top. Junk in the photo. Maybe a gamma ray strike. Maybe a meteorite. Don't know about the black dot though. Just thought it was interesting.

In the linked image it doesn't look as bright as in the image you posted. Has the image been adjusted?

Doesn't look bright enough for a normal ray strike to me. Most of the time they are brighter and look different.

Maybe it's a comet

Looks like a cosmic strike. Dunno about the black spot, it might be a dust particle that landed there just before the image was taken, or it's actually been caused by the cosmic strike somehow.
