Convair 440 crash Toledo

A Convair 440 on a cargo flight from Memphis to Toledo has crashed on landing. The aircraft impacted less than a mile from the end of the runway. It was reportedly carrying a load of auto parts. The aircraft was tentatively identified as N24DR, which shows as privately owned out of Laredo.

Two people who were on board a cargo aircraft that crashed just east of Toledo Express Airport early Wednesday have been confirmed dead, according to officials on scene.

I hadn't seen the picture yet, but had a feeling when they said large fire and the aircraft was totally engulfed.

Looks like it spun in.....I hope not out of fuel, that bugs me about this sector of God's creation.....

The plane was owned by Barker Aeromotive of Laredo, TX. It routinely flew parts from Laredo to various automotive companies around the country. There were no recorders on the aircraft.
