An Iraqi who has lived in the United States for decades and still doesn't know English well enough that the judge had to get an Arabic interpreter? I'm not buying it. This is obviously someone who doesn't want to assimilate into American culture.

Or he's playing dumb. I don't see how you can be an aircraft mechanic in the US and not speak and understand English. There's more to this than meets the eye.

He's a 20+ year aircraft mechanic. With his credentials he could have put a bomb on board. If he or whatever group he was associated with didn't want to use a bomb, there are half a dozen ways in the nose wheel area alone he could have sabotaged the aircraft that wouldn't set off alarms in the cockpit. Plugging a line to the ADM with super glue and styrofoam is the worst possible way to try to bring a plane down. If he was truly serious about bringing that plane down, we'd be reading about the investigation now.

I could not agree more. This WAS meant to be found and an experienced mechanic would have been able to do 1000's of things that would be hard to find in a post crash investigation.

Spin. Of course he's going to have ties to them, because then the prosecutor looks much tougher. If he really had ties, they'd be adding charges, and not just talking about it.
