Now that’s where I see a problem as some of these companies are based in offshore jurisdictions for which paying any form of tax becomes a loophole . Can you charge a tax on an exported commodity purely in it passing through your country ? One field mentioned tonight is worth 6 billion. The company that now owns it resides in an offshore jurisdiction ( which won’t get a penny of the revenue )

Offshore corporation tax is ring fenced and not subject to the same types of tax avoidance as normal corporation tax. Basically taxes on profits from the north sea not the profits (or otherwise) of the company.

Thanks for clarifying . We have a system called zero ten . Basically means that companies registered in the island pay zilch to the island . Its mental when you think how much money resides here and yet we still have food banks and people living in poverty

The only reason for Brexit is so the Tories can avoid the new EU Tax Laws next year but somehow so many middle, lower and working class and even benefits class seem to think this will effect them positively when they will end up paying both literally and figuratively for years to come...

A neurosurgeon would not rob an uneducated British citizen of a job because a local health authority would immediately employ him because of the general shortage of highly skilled medical specialists. Therefore, the uneducated lout would not complain about it. No. What the lout is complaining about is the free flow of Europeans able to take the low-paid British jobs that might be appropriate for the uneducated man. What he is complaining about is how this uncontrolled free flow enables spiv employers to keep the wages low, keeping him poor. What he is complaining about is all these "foreigners" snapping up all the cheap houses and flats in the area, forcing him to stay with his aging mum and dad. What he is complaining about is his inability to change this unfair EU policy in a democratic way because the EU commision officials are not subject to direct election by EU citizens.
