It is not a secret we can get photos of this resolution. The secret is the technology.

And how do you think countries learn to reverse engineer or defeat it?

Answer: By looking at the output from it. That is why we do not release this information to basically anyone.

Sorry, you need to source that this photo will not give our enemies the capability to recreate the technology that took it. You are simply making stuff up. These photos already get released. Our enemies already can get access to them. They are used at the UN to bolster our positions.

Not recreate it. Counter it. There is a huge difference.

About the only thing they can gather from sat image is time of day it was taken. That could also be easily manipulated in post to make it look like it was taken at certain times of day when it wasn't.

The image itself is fairly harmless. Revealing the capability to take such an image is not.

Him tweeting it means he decided it is not classified and that the people should see it.

Multiple agents, former intelligence officers, and people in the know all say this was a serious mistake, it was pointless, moronic (literal word used) - just a very poor move on the part of the POTUS.

ATS: "Reeee!! This is the best you got? Haha trolling people!"

You people simply can't admit it when Trump does something idiotic. You think everything he does.. EVERYTHING.. is either 4D chess, trolling, or a "nothingburger." I didn't realize they even made blinders that huge.

No one has been able to say why it matters. Only OMG so bad now our enemies will reverse engineer tech which they could not do using the countless other images of the exact same quality they have.

He did not reveal that, it was already known. So he did nothing harmful, I agree.

Usually these posts get little/no traction here at ATS. This one seems a little different. Eight pages in defense of President Donald J. Trump just as you described:

"Reeee!! This is the best you got? Haha trolling people!"

More made up crap. Seeing the image can't give them magic countering abilities.

Not magic. But, they're not dumb. What do you think they're going to do now that we've revealed we have aircraft over their airspace that they can't detect?

Good point.... what are they going to do now?

And frankly why didnt they do it before this incident? They didn't know they were being watched?

If I were a consultant for the Iranians... now that I know for sure the US is using advanced geoint against us, which I had no idea of before this incident ... I'd advise that they now build all of their rockets launch pads inside mountains ... and id also advise that they carve big glyphs into those mountains... like make one into a giant skull where the rockets come out of the eye sockets... how bad as would that be? Or better yet carve out a giant hand holding up the middle finger... oh and the middle finger turns into the rocket.

Having a confirmed incident of something flying in the area at a confirmed position and time, means they can look over their equipment to see if anything possibly gave an indication they were being watched. If it doesn't, it still confirms that the equipment they're using is insufficient and creates an incentive for Russians who manufacture their stuff to further innovate.

Technology can always be defeated. Knowing what you need to defeat is a big factor in doing so.

It's possible, but more likely something went wrong and the US wasn't involved in it's destruction. Implying we were though (whether we were or not) isn't great...

Also, there's this:
www.independent.co.uk... 581.html

Iran firing back with their own tweets showing the satellite wasn't even aboard the launch vehicle. Of course said picture could have been taken in advance.

So the equipment used has already been identified by amateurs. "Amateurs Identify U.S. Spy Satellite Behind President Trump's Tweet"

So now it is known which spy satellite took the photo. You are naive if you think other countries will not be using that data to see if they can figure out based on speed, trajectory among other things, what post-production techniques were used to get this quality of photo. There was no point to taking a picture with his personal CELLPHONE and then posting it on Twitter. It was dumb - and you KNOW if this were Hillary, Obama, or anyone who wasn't Trump, you'd be calling for impeachment most likely. The hypocrisy and double-standards for this POTUS are amazing to watch.

It's amazing how much Trump's sheep let slide because.. Trump.

The satellites are routinely identified anyways by amateurs. This is a complete non-issue. These photos are used at the UN to push US agendas all the time.

People here often talk about the Military not showing their best video and pics to prevent other countries from knowing the level of tech the US has.

They just saw some good stuff in this one.

The civilian sector at this point has the technology.

If Panda wanted to really get worried about it, then the picture would have been clear enough to see the color of the people's hair there.

The last few weeks of the media just throwing sh!t against the wall to see what sticks just pisses me off.

Russia... didn't work.

Racist... didn't work.

Recession... didn't work.

So now we're off to whatever the writers of the scripts threw away as unusable for the last few years but now we have to listen to it anyways.... till 2020.

They may be looking the other of a big terror attack as well.

A terror attack and American citizens killed would be gold for them.

They are also wishing and helping for a recession as well.

Very sick sick people who want to see Americans suffer just so they can say it happend under trump.

Very sick people
