FF for the 30th? I wouldn't be surprised since Congress in once again off on vacation. Weird how Mass Shootings take place during Congress' vacations isn't it. I wonder where it will be this time?

Excuse me if I seem to be taking this out of context. Not my intention to attack your statement, but it may better illustrate a point in general.

"allowing people to die" goes hand in hand with a lot of activities we perceive as freedoms. Take, for example, the interactions of vehicle operators with one another, and with pedestrians. A fair amount of losses incurred as a result, all over the world.

In 2016, over 37,400 people were killed in vehicle-related accidents in the USA per one source. For the same year, some 16,000 in the USA were killed by firearms (not including suicides).

Bearing arms has a sharper edge, because deaths from shootings are often the result of deliberate, malicious intent. But I have to wonder that with an over 2:1 ratio of the causes of deaths ... where is the call to stop the operation of vehicles because it causes deaths?

Dunno. As I've grown older, I have both become more careful in assessing hazards, and, more aware that the freedoms we have as a society will not return once taken away. For me, I'll take my chances with cars (and that includes drunk drivers) and guns.

IMO, Trump will beat this (and other) challenge and will be reelected in 2020.

Long view, the outcome is not rosy. No matter how much truth, how many facts the opposition sees, the cynical attacks on Trump will become the basis of a long-term rift in society. The image that came to mind today was the Dreyfus Affair in France. It became apparent, with time, that Dreyfus had been scapegoated, but the damage to French society had already been done. All it takes is for enough people to believe in a skewed version of events.
