Who pays you to write these talking points or this a copy/paste from a HuffPo Op-Ed? It is amazing when I read posts like this when you talk about how evil and conniving he is to do bad things but at the same time call him incompetent.

Trump should threaten those companies. They need to get back to the US and pay some taxes too. I always felt that the reason manufacturing was sent out was not to get us better jobs but to hinder when the SHTF. Our own leaders sold us out so that we are dependent on others. It should not be that way.

His "threats" as people are calling them, are in fact legal and they do have precedence just as the title of this OP states.

With that said he should lead by example as any good President should and move his families companies back here first before demanding others do as such.

Threaten? Is that what that was?

Those companies don't feel threatened? Trump is 90% impotent as POTUS. All he is capable of is debasing the Office of the President and the United States by acting like a raging, developmentally challenged child...which admittedly is useful to other countries like Russia and Trump's crush Putin, but otherwise no one takes Trump seriously, even his aides.

His greatest accomplishment is dramatically lowering the USA's standing in the world.

Lies, ego-mania, child-like tantrums and corruption are his legacy.

Threaten? Who takes Trump seriously anymore? Not world leaders, not US citizens, no one except his cult of trumpites that feel so invested at this point they dont know how to reverse course.

PSSST...He is NEVER going to force ANY company to stop dealing with China. He will kiss China's ass to save his election chances and sign a deal worse than what we had and then tweet about how great it is.

He Tweets crap and then flip flops when people ask him WTF he was talking about...Incompetent...Coward..Worst POTUS ever.

Can only laugh at precedence comments. Has ANY President ORDERED our businesses to stop doing business with ANY COUNTRY? Even a tiny one? Hmmm... no. Let alone the country we have the largest $$$ invested with imports. It would massively impact (in a negative way) a huge number of businesses. It would hurt many Americans and businesses. It's not an easy thing to shift your supply chain. Consider: available supply from other countries and businesses, their rising prices because they simply can, delays in orders and delays for businesses in America for their customers - you people are not using your heads.

It's cute you think it's a simple thing to change supply chain. Pricing, shipping, supply vs. demand, quality (you are ignorant if you think all Chinese imports are "cheap"), delays, contracts, failed suppliers and having to change your vendor, losing contracts because of the above - and the laughable "we'll do it in the good U.S. of A!" comments.

Not days.. not weeks.. YEARS to fix that. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of thousands of businesses would go under as a result? Oh.. you don't care.. because "our kids kids!" will benefit for our mighty sacrifice. Which of course is not true at all, most of you just want to gloat that your savior and hero Trump gets his way. Your blathering about how our kids kids kids will have a better America is a load of you know what. You just want Trump to impose his will, and it will justify your support of him.

And the above is with my hating the how and why China is a good import resource. I think their workforce is a wreck. Not everywhere, but there are many parts of China where their citizens are taken advantage of in many ways for profit (China and American businesses). But even so, you can't just cut it off. It takes YEEEARS to fix this. You can't just cut it off instantly. You know nothing about business if you think that's a reality.

does this include the companies that are operated by the CIA , as they have more potential to damage the US and national security than any normal company that operates within the bounds of international law .

how about those security companies that operate from the US in theatres of war , are they being called back too

I am just asking out of curiosity

Actually it sounds like you don’t really want an answer you want to make a statement. Of course we would have to include US companies involved with the CIA whoever they are. Not assets within other foreign companies . If we pull all companies back but left them . Don’t you think it would look kind of suspicious to the Chinese. Hell we might as well finger them .

It would be like serving a steak then pulling the played out from under it and eating. Nothing but Gristle, red blood and a mess for everyone to see .

Well, not sure if the CIA would want their drug trafficking operations upset and we could always send Academi aka Blackwater to Portland and Chicago. Why not?

Do you want Private Military Contracts on US soil? See how your 'statement' sounds now?

Did you just not read and comment only. The act in question which we spoke of precedence on has been used by 4+ presidents in double digits amounts in the history of the US.

Yea you so right...the relationship we have with china is like so great...they benefit us soooo much. Not like they haven't been getting rich off our limp wristed trade policies at all. Mean while the people working in manufacturing jobs here have been doing great. No one needed to rock that boat at all huh.

Does not compute. We live in a global economy, nobody forced american companies to go oversees and nobody forced american taxpayers to buy junk on mass from china, its a circle jerk they willingly stepped into. The herd merely just goes to the nearest and most convenient waterhole, same as in nature on the serengeti and same as in business, and human civilization.

Forcing companies by law to unmanageable and unsustainable practices and laws is not going to solve much. Forcing an old outdated system into a new set and paramater is like trying to put the triangle block into the round hole. The truth is, America will fall, or it will adapt and come up with new stuff.

Corporations and business exist to make a profit, what would even be the point in putting that much effort, money, and time which you all will have to pay for for generations to come. Into something that is essentially a one trick pony. Not to mention that technology in time will replace 99% of it. Some time to come indeed, but its slowly inching there.

May as well let the chips fall were they will, and if you dont like something? Well why are you then supporting it? And also, corporations and bussiness come and go, that has been true for the past few hundred years, so what makes anybody think that will not be true for the next coming few hundreds of years. If people dont like certain companies and corporations, well dont buy there stuff, and who knows maybe buy other stuff.

What more is there to it? Its not rocket science here, the only thing you will be doing in cementing in law and regulations, is just ending up upkeeping it all by your tax dollar, for who knows what ridiculous reasons, while the bottom dollar stays in exactly the same place it always has.

In case people dont know, if you need to prop something up for it to be sustainable. That usually means its not sustainable. Its not a catch 22, its more like a, DUH!

So is twitter now official correspondence from POTUS or was it written up and signed in the oval office?

a reply to: olaru12 Even IF he signed it, it could still be overturned by a joint resolution in Congress so if the courts failed, Congress could still stop him. Yay for checks and balances, I guess. But none of that matters if he is just blathering and doesn't sign it. I don't even take him seriously anymore unless he actually follows through on his rhetoric. All he does is talk to hear himself speak and judge the reaction before he acts. That's it. The man has the intellect of a four year old.
