Yeah.
But on a more personal level is what I was talking about.

So what about the hormones in chicken and beef, what about the chemicals in our water supply...

What about plans to set up a world-wide oppressive totalitarian government..

The automobile does a fine job.

Kills more humans than any other tool or device commonly available, yet no outcry about that.

I beg to differ.

Why are we so obsessed with focusing on the tool used for the killings and not the why behind it?

Name a tool which makes it so easy to kill so many. That's the basic idea.

Yeah.

How many mass killers have used dynamite? Recently?

You didn't specify recently, you just posted the question.
Gun control isn't about guns, it is about control.

You should make a meme.

That's just the drunks. Doesnt even cover the rest of the pharmaceutically lobotomized, or plain old idiots who cant put down the phone.

As for the outcry I was referencing, no-one is in a hurry to give up their vehicle.

no-one is in a hurry to give up their vehicle.

Nor are gun owners. Apparently.

They have made it harder for people to obtain firearms. Even illegal for certain types/models.

They have not made it harder to get your drivers license. Nor is there any law stopping an 18 year old from buying a supercar.

Automatic weapons indeed. Do you think that's a bad thing?

True dat.

What is the greatest number of people killed by a single car in the US?

No, i dont think any regular citizen needs automatic weapons.

But i do think if they want firearms for recreational use or security, that they should be able to have them provided they pass the background checks or legal requirements of the area they live in.
I do believe anyone who is going to own a firearm should be thoroughly competent in using it safely, storing it safely, and maintaining it safely.

"Regular citizens" are pretty much prohibited from owning automatic weapons.

I do believe anyone who is going to own a firearm should be thoroughly competent in using it safely, storing it safely, and maintaining it safely.
As a minimum. I agree. There are few regulations which require such.

I'm aware of this.

In the end it boils down to regulating drunks, druggies, and morons.

Unless we go Spartan and start tossing the useless, mentally feeble, or chemically dependant people off cliffs-
We are going to have these types of problems.

Unfortunately people have no decency or respect for themselves or others right live and be left alone.

Till we can get our collective heads out of asses, it's going to get worse.

No.
It boils down to availability. Actually.

I am aware of the laws pertaining to firearms ownership. And the lack of safety training.

As for the other part of your reply, may I ask-

Would you trust a sober, law abiding family who works legally and gainfully -
But has a cabinet full of firearms to be your neighbors?

Or shack full of meth-heads drinking moonshine with a cabinet full of firearms to be your neighbors?

I dont think availability is the problem.

I believe character, or lack there of is.

Character. Good criterion, if somewhat subjective.

I gave my guns to my brother in law a number of years ago because I had no use for them.
