Philadelphia shooting: Six police officers shot and injured in ongoing stand off with gunman

At least six police officers have been shot and injured - none of them gravely - after a gunman opened fire on them in the centre of Philadelphia.

In the latest mass shooting to rock the US, television footage showed officers surrounding the shooter in a property in the city’s Nicetown-Tioga neighborhood.

“Suspect is still firing. SIXPPD Officers shot - at area hospitals with non life threatening injuries,” Philadelphia police department spokesman Eric Grip said on Twitter.

This crap is getting to be a daily event.

Narcotics related bust that went bad. I wouldn't call it a "mass shooting".

You can't legislate away evil.

There are horrendously evil people among us.

Disarming the 99.99% of Americans (AS A SOLUTION) who DO NOT DO THIS, because an .01% outlier does, is INHERENTLY DANGEROUS to the welfare of the US population.

Remember, you have NO RIGHT to be safe. PERIOD. There are no guarantees you ever will be. You can pursue it and do what you can, but it isn't a given.

Thinking that you do is also INHERENTLY DANGEROUS.

My condolences to all who have lost their lives because they either didn't choose to protect themselves or were stripped of the ability to do so.

I think there is no definition of mass shooting but I would say 4 or more could qualify...perhaps 6?

Considering the guys shot six Police, i don't imagine it's going to lead anywhere but to gaol, that's if he even makes it that far alive.

As to the wounded officers, hopefully, a speedy recovery.

Is it still a potential hostage situation?

Pretty sure the large majority of people wouldn't consider a shootout with police a "mass shooting". Just those in the media and anyone else with a particular agenda.

I was thinking more of this being another cook-up by the antagonists to get our guns. :-)

Tell you one thing, they are going to be wanting his gun/guns, second amendment rights or otherwise.

But let's just hope it ends without anyone else being shot bar the mad bastard if need be.

Last I heard they were calling the shooter on the phone but he would not andwer and they were usingh a bullhorn also no response, he is holding a couple of police officers hostage in there
