The language being used is why I don't believe this.

It says which ever party is in power.

Checks and balances mean that nether party ever truly has all the power.

It doesn't say congress or potus or a majority.

Reads like fear porn to me. I call fake.

As soon as I saw CNN is reporting I did not even click on the link. They have been caught to many times fabricating fake news for me to spend one second listening to anything they might say.

Who knows what is actually in it. People are going to now beleive the MSM after endless claiming lie and bias from them.

If something is done we will know what it does.

OP’s source

Chris Lewis, Public Knowledge According to CNN, which obtained a copy of the draft, the new rule "calls for the FCC to develop new regulations clarifying how and when the law protects social media websites when they decide to remove or suppress content on their platforms.

Didn’t read the whole order yet because I haven’t seen it .

Although I’m willing to bet the left’s sensationalizing it as usual .

But it sounds like they’re going to have to prove unfair removal or suppression of political views . To enforce it .

If they end up being FCC regulations either political party will be able to use the new regulations if necessary .

Not sure how I feel about it.

But something needs to be done to stop the liberal propaganda and the emotional hostages they’re taking .

I suspect this has something to do with dealing with facebook, twitter , google et al censoring based on politics. i.e. if there is an EO it's the opposite of censorship. When the liberal media report something/anything we must assume the opposite is true until such a time as validation can be made.

I do not believe it either, but if it happened/s you know everybody on this site will welcome it, justify it and blame the Democrats for it....

But yes, this site will justify anything dear leader says or does.

Did you even read the post you quoted?

Jesus!

Your hatred for Trump and anyone who voted for Trump is so ####ing extreme, that you can't even see non-partisan criticism even when you quote it.

Dude.

Take a chill pill, have an alcoholic beverage, masturbate. I don't care but Jesus H Christ!

Lighten the blue-bloody f#ck up!

..ah yes, here we go:

the new rule "calls for the FCC to develop new regulations clarifying how and when the law protects social media websites when they decide to remove or suppress content on their platforms. Although still in its early stages and subject to change, the Trump administration's draft order also calls for the Federal Trade Commission to take those new policies into account when it investigates or files lawsuits against misbehaving companies."

That's exactly what it is - dealing with the social media companies when they censor unfairly.

So, chalk another inversion of reality up to the fake media.

Does the FCC regulate internet content?

Or is just this something like Trump wanting to take away CNN's "license?"

That's the whole point with the original source the OP omitted, which contained vital viewpoints, one of which was admitting that the ever presence of Censorship is really here, but how do we tackle it agencies that can't enforce, but bark and more importantly, without violeting constitutional rights?

It certainly is a tough cookie and as you say and I say ourselves, "Something needs to be done."

This is CNN take

"The law that I wrote, Section 230, allows platforms to get this kind of slime and hate off the platform," Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said in an interview with CNN on Friday, referring to hate speech that has appeared on forums such as 8chan. 8chan made headlines recently when a racist manifesto believed to have been written by the El Paso, Texas shooting suspect was published on the site.

By comparison, according to the summary, the White House draft order asks the FCC to restrict the government's view of the good-faith provision. Under the draft proposal, the FCC will be asked to find that social media sites do not qualify for the good-faith immunity if they remove or suppress content without notifying the user who posted the material, or if the decision is proven to be evidence of anticompetitive, unfair or deceptive practices.

Wyden, in the interview, called the proposal "horrible" and said neither the FTC nor the FCC are "exactly tripping over themselves... to carry it out."

It seems to be a way to claim things such as shadow ban and then hold site liable for poster's material.

Isn't this exactly what conservatives have been constantly calling for lately?

You know... always bitching about how far right rhetoric is being censored by private social media sites and demanding the 'government' steps in and does something about it?

Like they say... Careful what you wish for, cause you just might get it.

Wow, that's some fine double speak....wanting to not be censored is somehow censoring !

Unknown.

Section 230 is practically bullet proof, I see no way for the FCC to penetrate.

I just read 47 €230 .... Internet decency act . Doesn’t look like that protects them at all. The immunity applies to civil suit not federal regulations .

The FCC regulates the TV news and radio broadcast .

How big a step is this ?

Exactly. Leftist reality inversion.
This EO is about taking special protections away from social media if they behave as a publisher and curate content.

The left have social media lined up to be completely biased in 2020 in the run up to the election. They are obviously going to be upset if their cheating is stopped and they have to operate on a level playing field.

I doubt most would justify it and welcome it.

If they did though, it would be really showing. There would be no turning back for Trump with independents... And it would throw 2020 away...

But I'm skeptical of the whole thing as it stands.... Even more skeptical it would last with the Supreme Court much longer.
