Oh just love this.
I was on strike once back in 78 and of course police had to be at the picket line. I was talking to this one cop and his partner pulled him away and told him not to talk to me I was mafioso. I was a 21 year old single mom. But apparently I had the ability to convert to gangster at any time.

I don't follow.

Like I said... that local is secure. Kennedy airport is not going anywhere and the companies that are there are not going anywhere.

Tax dollars bail out banks and big business all the time. [to big to fail, remember?] I got a government grant for my retail operation because I hire and train minorities and women, now we are partners. The system has all sorts of grants and low interest loans and that's ok but if the American working man gets tax money it's socialism.

Not to mention the government money given to private foundations and BS research grants paid by the taxpayer... It's the system...If you don't like it, go back where you came from.

If you are to stupid or lazy not to take advantage of what the govt. offers, then get all crybaby about it....it's your fault. This is the greatest Country on earth for those not afraid to work and take a chance. step back from ATS and take an adult ed. class or workshop in entrepreneurism, and put forth a little effort into doing something. You might be surprised.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but when private companies have pension plans, they are responsible for funding the plan.
Now city, state and municipality's are as well.
Cops, firemen, teachers,,etc

If a private company doesn't pay up its all on the company.
So if a city fails to fund a pension plan who gets to bail that mess out?

I think Presidential candidates want to "bail out" people who fall behind on their student loans too. That will be a comfort to every would-be and current college student.

I hope they don't either. But if they squander the money with bad decisions that's what happens.

When social security ends up paying out more then it gets paid in, one of two things will happen. One, those that are working will have to pay more or two, those that are receiving social security will have to get less.

It seems to me, that any retirement system, that runs out of money faces those two alternatives.

If the Feds bail out the teamsters, what will happen when the Fed can't afford to pay any longer?

My next degree will have me several hundred thousand in debt, but the money it generates I will have it paid off in a few years. Why people take out $300k loans to be a teacher is beyond me. Then they ask for bailouts.

I never finished my Phd dissertation, Drugs, Alcohol and rock and roll lead me astray from the world of Academia.
I wanted to be an archaeologist and became a strung out bum instead.

I am negative amused by this! (thanks Oleandra88)

I would guarantee that 100% of people that know me would say I'm the exact opposite of stupid or lazy.

I'll tell you what is stupid and lazy, relying on the government for ANYTHING. That is very small minded.
Sure take advantage of it all you want, but all teets run dry, even the government teet. Ask Illinois.

Also, I don't need to take a "class" or workshop,
I have a degree, I have certifications up the yin yang, I've had my own businesses. I worked for the top of the top companies.

BTW, tax dollars should not bail out big banks or businesses. I actually worked for a bank that didn't. It was one of the things they were most proud of, no bailout money!

I know it's your thread but my rant wasn't really directed at you specifically. It was directed at mainly the complainer, fingerpointing, crybabies that inhabit ATS like a strain of nasty flu. Meme depositing intellectual cripples just trying to make points, stars and flags with inane clickbait topics, no conversation or discourse, one liner bull sh!t. Your thread isn't like this at all and I've enjoyed it!!
I also understand your stand on criminal organizations masquerading as labor unions. I also understand you didn't broad brush paint all unions as tax leeches.
