Meanwhile, in beautiful Baltimore...

Baltimore Police are investigating after the home of Rep. Elijah Cummings was broken into early Saturday morning.

The burglary occurred around 3:40 a.m. at his Baltimore home in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue.

Note that they apparently don't know that today is Friday and it happened Thursday morning.

They posted the article August 1, 2019 at 10:49 pm.

CBS Baltimore Article

Trump then tweets...

Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!

Trump Twitter

The media is of course outraged at the tweet...

President Donald Trump appeared to sarcastically call out a break-in at Rep. Elijah Cummings' Baltimore home after a week of attacking the prominent African American lawmaker over the conditions of his Baltimore district -- even comparing the city's murder rate to third world countries.

Note that they had to point out that he was black for their readership.

CNN Article

Trump explains later...

President Trump on Friday insisted he was not making a joke at Rep. Elijah Cummings's expense after reports surfaced that the Maryland Democrat's home in Baltimore was burglarized.

"The tweet itself was really just a repeat of what I heard over the news," Trump said when asked by reporters at the White House. "That was really not meant as a wise-guy tweet."

MSN Article

Considering the feud between the two, my thoughts are...

1./ Trump probably oversnarked on this.

2./ Maybe Cummings should fix his district up before worrying about the border.

3./ The MSM is pretty biased in their reporting.

So pretty much situation normal for America right now.

Thoughts, ATS?

This "break-in" was a classic example of a "sympathy funnel" just like the Smollett boondoggle.

Another Democrat PR operation that only "succeeds" within the Democrat coral 😎

The average Democrat will automatically blame Trump (the desired outcome) 😎

Cummings and his Wife are under criminal investigation and his crisis managers are getting real nervous.

IMPACT 😁🎯

Possibly.

I personally don't think Cummings is smart enough.

Perhaps it's just karma.

I had someone the other day tell me "Twitter is Trump's laser pointer and the media are the cats."

She may have a sound analogy...

or its one hell of a way to get rid of evidence in that scandal his wife is being investigated for let me guess they took off with just the computers? seen other reports saying he "scared them off"

A watchdog group is asking the Maryland attorney general to investigate whether Rep. Elijah Cummings and his wife used a charity for improper self-enrichment, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by the Washington Examiner. The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, which leans conservative, filed the complaint on Monday against the Center for Global Policy Solutions, a nonprofit organization founded by Cummings’ wife, Maya Rockeymoore. The complaint asked Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh to investigate the financial relationship between the Center for Global Policy Solutions and Rockeymoore’s for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions LLC.

The article states...

At this time, police don’t know if any property was taken.

You and Gothmog may very well may be on to something here.

Good catch!

ETA... did you ever notice that the husband/wife political crooks have different last names because it's harder to tie the two together when investigating the paper trail?

Probably a coincidence...

Cummings and wife:

1) Did not call police immediately
2) Had video surveillance in the house, but Mrs. C said she couldn't retrieve the video
3) Gave a physical description of the burglar to police...detailed, except for the race of the man they saw

Oh!

So it's completely on the up and up then and we should just focus on Orange Man Bad.

Thanks for the addition to the thread... what I had thought was a funny OP now has the trappings of a real mystery to unravel.

So later if they state that the only thing taken was the evidence personal computer with the kid's photos we will know.

So it occurred at 3:40 am...and they waited until 8:30 AM to call the police.
Who does that?

The report said the couple did not call police immediately, but contacted Sgt. Leo Furman with the police department’s intelligence section at 8:30 a.m. Crime scene lab technicians later processed the scene for fingerprints.
