Transgender weightlifter’s gold medal sparks new debate

www.foxnews.com...

So it is here.
Will this ruin the olympic games?

A women’s rights group demanded action after a transgender weightlifter dominated a recent tournament and is free to compete at next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

Seems a decision will be required as to who can compete "at the highest level" according to the agreed upon standards.

Women’s rights groups say that Hubbard, who competed for New Zealand in men’s weightlifting before her transition in her thirties, is having an “unfair” advantage against women and shouldn’t be allowed to compete in the Olympics in the women’s category.

Seems legit....
Earn a spot on a national team then switch it up and move to the other gender and collect medals.

New Zealand-based lobby group “Speak Up For Women” called on the country’s Olympic committee and sports minister to “defend women’s sport,” Reuters reported. “Kiwis (New Zealanders) know that males competing in women’s sport is blatantly unfair,” the group’s spokesperson Ani O’Brien said.

Do they?
Where will the line be drawn?
Who will represent the kiwis in the next olympiad?

Ban them all from competing, that's what I say.

I think this is absolutely outrageous.

This is blatant cheating.

Just imagine Usain Bolt suddenly announcing that he's "changing gender" and then swooping into women's track events. Many would rightfully be outraged.

Let's go further. Let's rewind a few years and imagine a 6 foot 4 Michael Phelps announcing that's he's "changing gender" and he starts racing in women's events in the Olympics.

This is blatant cheating. Plain and simple.

Outrageous. Frankly, I am outraged.

Did I mention that I am outraged?

There is no debate.

If someone is a man, and "transitions" to a woman, it is more significant than someone taking steroids and competing.

Listen to Joe Rogan talk about this, as he has a pretty tuned ear to competitive sports. He's also pretty left of center, but detests this whole farce.

Seems an easy way to pick up a few more medals.
Would they be under the same name?

A simple DNA test will tell you this who. As far as DNA there really is only male and female since anything else Is a mutation

No they will slightly alter their names. Michael Phelps will become Michelle Phelps and Usain Bolt will become Insane Bolt. Seems appropriate.

Seriously, imagine training for 20 years to make the olympic team for your nation only to be beat out by someone transitioning to your gender?
That has to sting.

They should be given medals.

Just silver medals that are gold-plated.

When it comes to professional sports, your gender at birth should define what sporting code you can professionally compete in.

end of discussion!

but, that wont happen.... female sports is destined for radical change because of stupidity!

Not on the Wheaties box, but maybe on packages of summer sausage.

"Johnsonville" presents summer sausage 2020 gold medalist Laurel Hubbard with exclusive trading card on the back of the package.
Or the "Hillshire Farms" lil smokie newcomer of the month card additions?

Gender should be decided by testosterone levels or something. This way it doesn't matter how an athlete dresses, acts, or genuinely thinks they are a different gender.

Just give the transgender woman a bronze medal and tell her that it identifies as gold.

This one will sort itself out pretty quickly.
In a few years when no genuine women win medals in anything the backlash will be epic
