CBS Chicago reports that the shooting victims included people walking, standing outside gas stations, and standing on sidewalks.

In one of the incidents a 15-year-old, 14-year-old, and a 10-year-old were shot when a Toyota drove by the sidewalk on which they were standing and opened fire. The wounds proven superficial and the three boys β€œwere in good condition at Stroger Hospital.”

You would be.

The fact is people have every opportunity to improve their lives, but instead they chose gangs and drugs. Probably has to do with the breakdown of family life.

Or gang bangers, thugs and criminals actively make the choice to live life the way they do and their isn't anyone else to blame but themselves.

I dont think that's true.
If poverty was the problem every trailer park in the country would be a battle zone.

Chicago's former mayor said values are different in Hispanic and black communities. He was forced out of office for telling the truth.

The current mayor Lori Lightfoot is from a small farm town in Ohio. She has no clue what to do either.

President Trump ordered the Department of Justice to send in federal law enforcement officers but all the city would accept were 22 of them and then proceeded to tie their hands.

On a per-capita basis, Baltimore Maryland has more violence than Chicago.

I think poverty is only one factor or it's a symptom of other problems.
The biggest being a cultural lack of respect for human life and the law in general.

I would agree that poverty plays a major role. I would also say that Democrat party policies create poverty and make it continue. They create in their constituents a lifestyle of learned helplessness.

This isnt a Democrat problem this is an American problem, abandoned super powers in industrial industry left to rot.

But Chicago has actually kept itself afloat quite nicely considering it was the center of Americas industrial power for a while, and gotten itself out of the rust belt to be just a rusty city. Compare it to the rest of the rust belt cities, it's far more prosperous.

Also New York has way more rats, and roaches.

Well, you may have a point. Most of the mayors in the list were Democrats. I am kind of surprised that Democrats do so well in local elections. In the defense of ultra left wing policies I think the murder rates may have nothing to do with the party affiliation of the mayor. Correlation does not prove causation.

I think to understand murder rates you have to look deeper into the cause. I tried to google different searches to try to determine what causes murder rates. This is all I found:

"Even despite recent increases, rates of murder and violent crime remain at historic low points, almost 50 percent below their early-1990s peaks.
A preliminary analysis of 2017 crime rates in the nation's 30 largest cities projects that the overall crime rate and the violent crime rate will decline to the second-lowest levels since 1990."

"Mayor Catherine Pugh said Tuesday that she has been attempting to curb the killings by attacking the root causes of poverty and lack of opportunity that fuel the violent drug trade. So far this year, the number of killings is down 15 percent from last year."

I thought this was interesting:

"State and regional murder statistics show no correlation between use of the death penalty and reduced crime."

This is one issue I will agree with you on. If there are public policies that are cause murder rates in Chicago to be very high according to you, then what policies need to be change? If it's just local corruption we need MORE FBI agents!!!

The culture is a symptom, I don't listen to (c)Rap, know plenty of people that do and they aren't shooting the place up.

We have all of that here too, just not the same level of violence.
