Yeah, because cats don't carry fleas.

Brilliant!

Seriously, there’s always been Black Death here. I was stationed in a hospital in Colorado Springs, back around 2000, and they had cases up there. Seriously, we have antibiotics now, this isn’t the dark ages. It’s easily treatable.

Hold on, she may be onto something, project the new Cats film all around the area and it may rid them of the homeless and rats.

That or free range chickens or guineas to take care of the flea problem the cats cause.....

Well then I guess there's nothing to worry about because all the homeless in LA regularly go to the hospital whenever they get sick.

Problem solved!

Homeless are a large part of our patient base, yes. Can they get sick and die if they don’t come in? Sure. But that’s nothing our homeless don’t face daily from hundreds of other diseases too.

I remember my epidemiology classes in grad school.

Yeah, diseases never spread.

Probably too late already.

There should be a cure invented by now. After all, we put a man on the Moon!

So it spreads, the other people come in and get a penicillin shot. Whew, close one. There’s many far worse diseases that are REAL threats. Don’t waste your time worrying about what now amounts to strep or pneumonia.

Or Measles?

Pinsky said bubonic plague — also known as the “Black Death,” a pandemic that killed off millions in the 14th century — is “likely” already present in Los Angeles. The plague is spread by infected fleas and exposure to bodily fluids from a dead plague-infected animal, with the bacteria entering through the skin and traveling to lymph nodes.

iotwreport.com...

So the bubonic plague is probably already present.

And *spoiler alert* it's spread by fleas on rats and *spoiler alert* guess who has an epidemic rat problem?

Los Angeles.

Now I don't believe that republican politicians are so naïve that they don't know that this is going on.

So is this a way to break down the population?

Are we looking at an ELI event?

Hospitals are already at a max in terms of care. New strains of resistant bacteria are seen daily.

Are we doomed ultimately because of policy and "muh feels"?

What a stupidly pedantic argument. Are you home alone pondering something you know nothing about? YES

So, have trump hire the pied piper to get rid of the rats. Then, since the piper will take payment in children we can take care of all those pesky criminal kids we have locked up in those "concentration camps" .

And for some reason that crazy statement I just made seems right st home among all the other crazy that has filled ATS.

Keep up the good fight dude. The truth has no effect on those that choose ignorance. Of course, it also has no effect on those with an IQ so tiny they cant grasp the concept of walking and chewing gum at the same time.

Oh look, another thread where it's DB's left vs right political scary nightmares. Now "leftists" are causing the plague.
Have you ever seen the movie "They Live", that must be how you live day to day, thinking you're Roddy Piper out to save humanity from alien/demon "leftists", I bet you even have a pair of special sunglasses you use to see "them" whilst you're on ATS.
You should try sending a script to Hollywood, you at least might get paid for your political paranoia.

This is happening in big city's the world over as inner-city populations increase, we have become a "throw away" society. Rubbish/garbage is increasing, everything is wrapped in plastic, even food where nature made the best packaging available and fast food is at our finger tips. it's this that's causing the problem, not your political biases.

Sure, could happen anywhere. This is just more political drivel is all I'm saying.

The difference between regular cities and LA is that LA and San Fran have a rampant homeless problem creating more than ideal conditions for a population explosion of rats in the urban area.

You can always have cockroaches around, but for the most part, your lifestyle and the cleanliness measures you take make your home less attractive to roaches so it helps you keep them under control, same with other pests.

With LA's current homeless issues, the agreement to maintain a more sanitary environment has fallen by the wayside. Large numbers of homeless people in high concentrations on the streets creates sanitation issues that cannot be avoided, and that's before you add in the mental illness and drug addiction problems that will add to the breakdown of sanitation. The filth in the alleys of London before the Great Plague? That's what LA and San Fran are trending toward through their unwillingness or inability to seriously deal with their homeless problem.

That attracts rats. The rats carry the diseases with them.

Now back to the homeless. By definition, they're weaker in the immune system because of their lifestyle, particularly the ones who are addicts. That makes them a great incubator for the diseases carried by the rats. It will be easier for the to get infected, easier for them to spread that illness from place to place, person to person depending on modes of transmission.

And you could be a regular citizen of the city, but you know, if you've ever lived next door to someone with a roach problem who won't tackle it, that your own personal measures aren't enough to fully insulate you from infestations fostered by bad conditions in your surrounding area. Your neighbor's roaches become yours. And that's how workers in City Hall got either typhus or typhoid in the LA area ... the rats fostered by the homeless problem carried the disease and the workers who may have been in a sanitary place were not insulated by that. Those rats and fleas carried the disease even into City Hall.

Plague will be no different no matter what sort of plague we talk about, and the longer these cities ignore the realities, the large incubators they become.

Yeah ... Black Death, it's the new common cold.

What's a little plague?

There's always been rats and there's always been homeless people. Ya, the numbers have ebbed and waned but even small villages had areas with a large number of rats. In my hometown, it was the alleyways in the downtown area and our homeless consisted mainly of transient hobos who seldom were seen in that area.
And gee, if you are so worried about a plague epidemic rampaging through the country threatening you and yours it seems that you would have a little more interest in ensuring everyone has access to our healthcare system, but that isnt your problem, is it? Not if it involves your tax money.
If you see homeless people as being a health risk to the general community, it seems that you would be looking to find ways to make housing more affordable or expand the programs like HUD. Instead we have big real estate developers buying up the low income housing, revitalizing it and making it high end real estate. And of course making it harder for people to qualify for the assistance and cutting the funding so the programs can serve less.
And, if you are so concerned with the drug problem, you would be screaming a little louder about the dang drug companies who have been shipping more opiates into some of the small communities in my neck of the woods in a year than the population could consume in two or three if the people weren't abusing them and selling them to those outside the community.
Most of the times that the homeless numbers exploded in my lifetime, the source of the problem could be traced back to policies in Washington.

Now it makes sense!

Leftists create a situation where the Black Death develops.

And the only solution is The Green New Deal.

You do realize that nowadays, by the time you’re 10 you’ve already had about 10 different illnesses that would have killed you 150 years ago, right? Tonsillitis, strep, staph, uti, all these would likely have seen you dead through much of our history. We don’t freak out about them. Your perspective is flawed from reading the words “Black Death” and only hearing about it in the history of plagues wiping out millions.
