“Adam Schiff’s expansion of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act beyond all reason will effectively muzzle reporting on torture, mass surveillance, and other crimes against the American people—all at the request of the CIA. Schiff is clearly the resistance to the resistance, and he should drop this provision from his bill.”

Source

With some of the things starting to leak looks like there is an effort underway to keep it all contained. Looking at Adam Schiff's profile on qmap.pub...

AS
Traitor/Pawn
Adam Schiff is the U.S. Representative for California's 28th congressional district. He is a member of the Democratic Party, Senate Intelligence Committee, and is very vocal against POTUS. Schiff is a suspected intel leaker with possible ties to child trafficking operations running in CA

The rest of the news source talks about keeping operatives on the job around the world safe out of the media spotlight. In principle I agree with this if they are out there having a good fight. But where do you draw the line? Does a whole story get dropped because there is some agent in the background somewhere? If he has done his job right he should just be able to move on unnoticed. What about large scale criminal enterprises? Should that be allowed to continue free of public scrutiny because some high CIA official says so?

Certainly not and in the interests of the public, press freedom has to be protected at all costs.

The so called democratic US government is one of the most clandestine and nastiest on the planet as it is

Interesting timing this is when all of the pedophile talk and charges are being brought up around the world.

Instead they should add an 'Internal Affairs'-type division to hold the CIA accountable.

Who watches the watchers, then?

The whole division would be bought out or blackmailed into submission immediately., turning a blind eye to the real bad guys. Within a year they'd be weaponized against anyone trying to fix the real problems in our government.

The people have lost control of their government, and it's now running wild without oversight or accountability... And in the last twenty years it's begun to turn on the very people who started it.

Even a flawed system is better than no system at all

You're right, the people have lost control
This cannot be allowed to continue

Adam Shiff, and intelligence should under no circumstances be used in any sentence that doesn't also include "lack of" before the word "intelligence".

Hiw that clown ever gat put in charge of that particular commitee is baffling, to say the least.

The co-equal branches of government all share oversight of one another.

In the case of the CIA (and other intel agencies) its an IG like the one mentioned above, Senate and House oversight committees (multiple and overlapping) and the judicial oversight of the Federal court system.

It used to work really well until everything blew up and everyone started calling everyone racist or ageist or nationalist or whatever.

Haven't they spent the last two years on this Russia gate nothing burger? Looks like it might have been shaky for a while.

Not sure if you're disagreeing with what I wrote, but if you are, you're kinda making my point.
