Power outage in parts of New York City, officials say

Parts of midtown Manhattan in New York City were hit with a power outage on Saturday evening, causing Times Square billboards and to go dark, disrupting subway service and cutting out traffic lights.

Consolidated Edison Inc, New York City's power provider, said in a post on Twitter that it is "responding to extensive outages" on west of Central park in Manhattan and that it is working to restore power to 42,000 customers.

In your Awakened Conspiracy Mind what would have been a sufficient amount of time for a random power outage to hit after an Earthquake?

They blamed it on a heat related overload, which means a lot of people will be without AC till its fixed.
Doesn't seem like that terrible a situation especially if they can get the conduit fixed in a few hours.

This would be a perfect time to go in no alarms clear out the evidence from the secret wall safes.

but was it an Autobot or a Decepticon?

New York city has some bad infrastructure that needs major replacements, every year they get steam pipe blasts, limited area blackouts, and water main breaks. It's a shame that they can't just go in, shut the city down for a few weeks, and replace everything. I know, I know, but the city really needs it even if it causes some disruptions.

No such thing as random here.

I do remember a blackout around 2003 where the power was out for OVER 24 HOURS in NYC, and in some places all over the NORTHEAST for around 48 hours.

There was quite an increase in looting, rapes, burglaries, etc.

Con Ed never reimbursed for $100 food in fridge.. so now we don't use a fridge for food, just ice & beers.

Would not be surprised if they're recyling the same excuses as like 16 years ago! Just on a larger scale.

Just think about it, how can the ENTIRE NORTHEAST go out for so long at once?!

Its occurred at a large ancient substation on 49th street.
You can find it on Google Earth.
Swapping out a transformer shouldn't be a big deal but if the infrastructure is overloaded by the AC demands there could be more to the story.
