Professor Valentina Zharkova’s full paper released June 24 entitled, ‘Oscillations of the Baseline of Solar Magnetic Field and Solar Irradiance on a Millennial Timescale’ has been accepted for publishing in Nature. It confirms a Grand Solar Minimum from 2020 to 2055, as all four magnetic fields of the sun go out of phase, while now also suggesting centuries of natural warming post-Minima.

What this means.

It means that our star is at present, effectively shutting down beginning next year (2020). When this happens, food supplies will diminish greatly. Most will freeze to death. Others will starve.

An uptick in high-level volcanic eruptions is also associated with low solar activity. Increasing Cosmic Rays are believed to heat the muons in subsurface silica-rich magma (click here for more on that). And larger eruptions (ones that fire volcanic ash above 32,800 feet (10 km) and into the Stratosphere) have a direct cooling effect on the planet, as these ejected particulates effectively block out the sun.

Sounds impressive.
I'm in the desert, it was 115 today. So if it's going to be a bit cooler count me in.

The last time this happened was in the Little Ice Age.

Multitudes died of starvation.

Crop failures were world wide.

Population was around 1 billion.

Imagine what happens when there are 7 Billion mouths to feed.

A great many people will starve to death.

When a population starves they all run out of food at the same time.

Then it is either die or eat the dead.

It's not looking too good. A bit shabby I'd say. There's more volcanic activity than ever.

Well we are running about a +.6C temp off of norm and the little ice age was about -.6C temp off of norm so maybe we will normalize out.

I think we will fair better than what we did from 1400 to 1700...

BTW we still doubled our population from 1400 to 1700.

Various agencies have been fiddling with those numbers you quoted.

The Solar Minimum is already here. You wouldn't know it from the figures because they are being hidden. There is not that much you can do about it.

Winter is coming said the frost giants.

From the papers conclusions:

Until recently, solar activity was accepted to be one of the important factors defining the temperature on Earth and other planets. In this paper we reproduced the summary curve of the solar magnetic field associated with solar activity5,6 for the one hundred thousand years backward by using the formulas describing the sum of the two principal components found from the full disk solar magnetograms. In the past 3000 years the summary curve shows the solar activity for every 11 years and occurrence of 9 grand solar cycles of 350–400 years, which are caused by the beating effects of two magnetic waves generated by solar dynamo at the inner and outer layers inside the solar interior with close but not equal frequencies6.
The resulting summary curve reveals a remarkable resemblance to the sunspot and terrestrial activity reported in the past millennia including the significant grand solar minima: Maunder Minimum (1645–1715), Wolf minimum (1200), Oort minimum (1010–1050), Homer minimum (800–900 BC) combined with the grand solar maxima: the medieval warm period (900–1200), the Roman warm period (400–10BC) etc. It also predicts the upcoming grand solar minimum, similar to Maunder Minimum, which starts in 2020 and will last until 2055.

I just hope we got enough co2 into the atmosphere in time to weather 35 years. Slightly warmer ocean should help too, right?

I'll get my lawn equipment idling and feed the cows some beans!

Have actually thought for awhile that a glacial period is a larger, more likely threat than a warmup. Like everything, nature is best, but I wouldn't be opposed to staving off a glacial period for a few thousand extra years of technological development!

This is what im saying. Predict the solar minimum, leave the crops to farmers. As weather patterns change we may just need to adapt and grow crops elsewhere,l as the climate permits. A diminished food supply would be our own fault unless the entire planet froze over.

Since global warming has been the liberal's tool for a progressive/socialist movement can the republicans use global cooling for a strong capitalist movement?

I got it. Have you seen that xkcd comic on AGW? Let me dig it up...

imgs.xkcd.com...

So, what I was saying was co2, methane and water vapor are all greenhouse gasses, and I don't have a reason to doubt that global average ocean and atmospheric temperatures have risen, and it stands to reason that once humans started digging petrochemicals out of the ground and burning it in order to do...everything, then a geometric expansion of the population happened, that yeah, we probably have warmed up the planet.

Now, it also stands to reason that in order to get a minimum out of the summation of four roughly sinusoid waveforms, you would expect to see sequential maximums from all four of them immediately before the global minimum. So it stands to reason that we would experience higher temperatures immediately before the deep freeze.

My thought is that both are true. AGW is real, and we're due really bad solar minimum, but because of human activity we've "stored up" a bunch of heat in the last 100-150 years which is currently mitigating the effects of that minimum, and with any luck we stored up enough to get us through the worst of it. 35 years is a long time, but if it was, say 25 years of mild cooling, then 10 years of freeze-your-nuts-off cold, we stand a better chance than if it were the full brunt of it with no AGW helping us out. See what I mean?

Maybe that was the plan all along? Maybe that's what all the deep underground base building is about, as a backup plan in case our terraforming experiment fails?
