Sort of unrelated, but isn't it odd in the pataphysic sense that American-Indians are ok with that label but everyone else of "color" has to be the suffix? African-American and so on.

Is it something that Asian Indians should be labeled Indian-American?

How many years ago was that mind F sorted out? And was it done in Chicago? And did it happen say a decade after WW2 ended? And why was it even thought about?

PS. Meaning of words actually does matter.

The politically correct term is Native Americans, calling them indians is pretty offensive to the sensitive ones anyways.

No. It's most offensive to sensitive white people that want to save the helpless non-whites. Indian is still widely used and frankly, in 2019, who really cares except for people that want to virtue-signal on TV and the internet.

I just vote for whoever is the Democrat on the ticket.

That's a shocker, I would've never had guessed.

But back to Harris......WTF? I guess it's to be expected when your whole party's platform is based on identity politics.

Identity politics is all they have.

Harris is an example of how little being "first" actually means as an achievement in the public political square.

Actually, I think it's more of the first word being the descriptor of the second in those phrases.

In the former, "American Indian," it's used to show they are "Indians," of the "American," variety. Since Columbus f'ed up and called the natives "Indians," that necessitated that clarification.

In the latter, "African American," the first word is describing the specific variety of American. There are obviously Americans of many different and varied extractions and this is supposedly used to differentiate and clarify as well.

However, therein is the real mind-F. The "clarification" only serves to divide. We are all Americans (if you're lucky and God loves you, that is).

The only reason to add that first little word is to split us apart.

I may be showing my age, but when I was a kid, I wasn't Polish American. I was American and only if heritage came up (maybe a friend was over and had no idea what the Pierogi on the table was) would the Polish background come up.

What many on the left haven't figured out yet is that we don't want to go back to a party. We don't want another career ass-kissing politician to do the bidding of those who bought him. If republicans think they are safe, just ask Justin Amash.

Donald Trump was not purchased. Man, do they hate that.
