Politics aside, do you REALLY not see Trump as insecure?

Hi all,

Now, I realise this is Conservative playground - I get that. And for transparency, I am a centrist BUT I am anti-Trump. This is for my own reasoning deduction, and research, so please don't bother with the "Get ur news from somewhere other than MSM lol" stuff.

My question to the die-hard Trump fans, is this: do you really, really disagree that he's insecure and petulant?

A leading question of course, but I've lost count of the times I've seen people defend his twitter tantrums as "hitting back" and "having the guts to give as good as he gets!!!". Or to say "Well he takes so much abuse from all sides, 90% of the media is negative about him, wouldn't you be annoyed too?!" (oh boohoo, seriously?) etc.

Regardless of your political leanings, you do know it's ok to say "actually yeah, I love the guy but he's definitely insecure; that's pretty clear" right? It's not a failure on your part.

The bottom line is that a strong, confident, self-assured person wouldn't need to make up playground names for everyone, and to write really petulant and objectively immature tweets about almost anyone who calls him out. I mean look at today's Tweets - I called it the second the story leaked.

Rather than make a joke of it, or just rise above it, he can't help logging on to attack people and belittle them. This, along with all the desperate need to show off crowd sizes, just continues to emphasise his deep insecurity. I kinda feel bad for him to be honest - he sure has a lot of time to "HIT BACK" on social media.

I don't really know why I'm posting this - I guess it's in the hope that someone will actually have the nuts to say "yep, dude's insecure AF but I'm down with his policies, and he's a damn sight better than Hillary would have been" rather than just desperately defending every single action he ever makes (like cosying up to Kim, Putin, and the Saudis while calling out his own intelligence services... I mean come on!).

So, inb4: "yeah well Obama..." "yeah well Hillary..." "rofl he's an expert at trolling lol he does it for fun" (incorrect, and if it WAS correct it would be incredibly tragic/pathetic for a man of his age, let's be honest), and other such comments suggesting I don't understand it/he's a 4d chessmaster/he's entertaining himself/he's stronger for hitting back.

Honestly guys, defensiveness is not a strength - it's the exact opposite.

I see him as someone who either talks before he thinks or who has no inner monologue meaning thinking and talking are one. Twitter is like stream of consciousness with him.

But I honestly don't really care all that much. For the most part his actions speak louder than his words, and most of those have been pretty good.

I don't need the slick political package if the policies are there.

No. He is not insecure. Why do you need that to be pointed out to you?

I don't know any Trump supporter who doesn't think of him as gaudy, boastful, boorish, narcissistic, and insecure.... I knew all that going in. I could careless about his exploits with porn stars.

I voted for him because I felt he had the policies / ideology to move the country forward. I wanted results. I didn't want a politician.

Insecure to the nTh degree. He holds no inner-convictions whatsoever.

His hands tucked firmly under his arm pits when he is in a group of important people or when he is being questioned by the press while at his desk says it all.
His body language is very defensive. Very insecure.
as for petulance... they see that as smart alecky bill and ted kind of stuff and they live that life.

I disagree with the premise of your point, even though I agree that he's as insecure as any other high profile figure is. Name calling and mockery aren't always sign of insecurity, it can also be attributed to disrespect, arrogance, and sometimes just a class clown attitude. Trash talk, however, is an art form and always has been. Those who excel at it embrace it while those who suck at it project their feelings of insecurity onto those who bedevil them.

All adjectives I have used to describe trump.
But joking aside when he is cornered he lies and that is a defensive action. He makes things up to sound smarter than he is. That is insecurity.

I just see him as a New Yorker. Lots of coarse bluster for no readily apparent reason.

I see that differently. I don't see it as an insecurity, I see it as a decisiveness and he's going to be extremely difficult to move off a position he's decided on. It isn't an unusual posture to see past presidents taking.

Don't feel bad, I didn't like Orange man at first but when you see what he is doing and how he's making TDS syndrome a money maker for shrinks and add to that the great economy and $3000 tax refund....

Respect is earned, show me a billionaire or a POTUS who isn't the epitome of arrogance, and as the guy who was the class clown, I understand the need for dark humor in this world.

He is openly insecure, but that's not to say that other presidents weren't as insecure or even more so.

My 401k/investments beg to differ. My tax rate begs to differ. We aren't running off to go fight Iran or some other backwater arm pit at every little provocation.

Border would be shut down if it weren't for the spineless weasel Democrats.

I get a kick out of all these Junior Psychologists analyzing Trump and accusing him of calling names while calling names themselves. The Junior College graduates are laughable. Thanks for the entertainment.

Nah, wasn't aware I could say what I thought about someone online. Thanks for letting me know.

To the rest of your post, what you're whining about Trump doing is exactly what the Democrats, MSM, foreign diplomats, and the losers on Twitter do to him nonstop. Trump made it known that if you go after him, he will punch back. Seems everyone on the left conveniently forgets about that until he embarrasses them online after they attack him. If Trump didn't own everyone he disagrees with he would probably dial it back.

I don't know either because many Trump supporters here on ATS have said they disagree with his rhetoric, disagreed with him bombing Syria, disagreed with the Omnibus Bill, disagreed with some issues with his trade deals, etc. All you have to do is read and pay attention. It's as if I don't constantly knock Trump on this site, it makes me a Trumpette as you guys say. So if you wonder why we don't take you seriously, that's why.

I don't think he's insecure. I do believe he's sick of being sh*t on constantly be the left... But the left is filled with vile subhumans, and we know they aren't stopping anytime soon. TDS is very real in this country, and its scary seeing how radically left the democratic party has gone. What you call insecure, I call a person who's fed up with the constant barrage of BS stories with unnamed sources backing them.
