So you believe stupidity should be punished. Does that include all those with Intellectual disability. That have difficulty understanding society and its norms. Clearly incarceration is not an antidote for stupidity. It doesn't address the problem but sweeps the dirt under the carpet.

The girl is a teenager. She did something wrong that she is probably very sorry for today. If she is not, then she may suffer an Intellectual disability. Either situation does not call for incarceration.

If that was your daughter would you want her jailed?

If it were my daughter she wouldn't have done something as stupid as this. That's why I not only mentioned community service for her, but the fines going to her parents. Should have taught the kid better. As for punishing stupid acts, that's the problem these days, there's no accountability for ones actions "whoops I did something stupid, my bad fam, I didn't intend to cause harm". I'm fine with you being stupid about things, but ensure that your stupidity only impacts yourself, not the rest of society that has to put up with the BS.

Ummm...OMG...it’s like none of you has ever French kissed...or eaten at the Y...

Yeah, my wife and I suck face and swap spit on a regular basis.

So, if I were to come visit your house and spit in your mouthwash, lick your loaf of bread, sneeze in your rasin bran and blow a loogie in your gallon of milk, you'd have absolutely no problem with that, huh? And you'd happily invite me back for another friendly visit?

Come on, answer me. I dare you!
...
Yeah, tha'ts what I thought.
...

This is exactly what I've been saying will be the end of the matter if the girl is not dealt with in a stern and public fashion. But, hey, people like YouSir seem to have no problem with it. I guess they think it's just fine for people to leave body fluids in stuff they are going to put in their mouths.

She gets no pass, but I don't know that major jail time would be productive either..I'm thinking community service..lots of it.

That's my point. She needs to hurt in a very public way, or there will be copycats.

Now, granted, many of the people commenting on this thread seem to have no problem with consuming foods that are contaminated by the unknown body fluids and other contaminants of unknown people. Myself, I don't care for that, but to each his own. If you don't mind eating someone else's spit or booger or ... whatever, then that's your thing. Who am I to judge, right? As for me, though, no thank you.

So, no, she does not need to be executed or sent to prison for 20 years, but if an example is not made ... Well, just see the video I posted previously.

If that’s what you gathered from what I said well I’d have to say that’s your issue ... what you have done in your reply was clarify and solidify my sentiments...

What you have done is expose your inconsistency.

This girl perpetrated an act that was designed to harm. I'll ask you what I asked YouSir: If I came to visit your house as a guest and walked around spitting, blowing my nose and rubbing my bodily fluids into things that you and your family will put in your mouths - your food, your milk jug, your ice cream and toothpaste - would you invite me back for another friendly visit so that I could do it again?

I dare you to answer me yes. I mean, if you'd like that, that's your thing, I guess. Diff'rent strokes and all that.

However, if you'd be pissed at me for spitting in your milk jug and would bar me from your house, but you want to say that what this girl did deserves no punishment, then you are, indeed, inconsistent.

Yes, I believe that stupidity should be punished.

Driving is drunk stupid. Acting aggressively and threateningly toward another driver on a public roadway is stupid. Forcefully engaging in non-consensual sexual contact with another person is stupid. Robbing a bank is stupid. Beating up or killing someone is stupid. We punish all of these things because they are stupid and they are harmful or potentially harmful to other people.

Intentionally contaminating the food supply and surreptitiously exposing people other people to my bodily fluids is stupid and could potentially harm someone else.

If we decide as as society to not punish stupid behavior, we will be left with no society at all.

If this were my daughter, I would not want her to go to jail. But I'd also realize that she had committed a heinous act that was completely socially unacceptable and could have potentially harmed another person, so I'd tell her that she was responsible for facing the consequences of her actions and that she should have thought about that before she did it.

Then, I'd slap her upside the head.

Besides, my daughter would not do something like this. I am 100% certain of that. She was raised to respect other people.

I've told you the solution.

Why does no one want to listen to it????? Accept it????

Ban these people from social media...IS the answer!

Just BAN them...permanently...and make any company who hosts them after the fact liable!

Social media is poison, and it should die! Period!!

No good comes from social media!!

BAN 'EM!!! PERMANENTLY!!!

(this crap will stop)

That'd be good, useful and acceptable part of the punishment, but there need to be other consequences, as well.

You cannot put a teenager in jail for being stupid. Ice-cream manufactures that don't put a tear indicator in the lid, yes. They are suppose to be smart.

WAIT!

You can put a teenager in jail for driving drunk. (Even though somebody else made and sold the alcohol and even though said teenager didn't hurt anyone.)

You can put a teenager in jail for sexually accosting or violating another person. (Even though internet porn turned the teenager into a horny pervert.)

You can put a teenager in jail for throwing fireworks at a gasoline station. (Even though the gasoline station was selling a substance known to be flammable and explosive.)

You can put a teenager in jail for making plans to shoot people in his school. (Even if he never brings the gun to school or shoots anybody.)

Oh, gee ... It looks like you most certainly can put a teenager in jail for being stupid! Whaddaya know?

Care to explain how beating a child, is not harming another person?

I have no argument against a limited community service as long as it doesn't result in permanent record.

First I’ll start by saying you talk like you would do that, but I would be there... My presence alone even if I’m another room would prevent you from doing that.
But let’s say you did, ok I catch you acting in such a fashion my first inclination would probably be disgust maybe even the urge to hurt you. But I’d also be thinking you have some serious issues if not with your own mentality than surely a hatred for me. Then I’d have to pack up everything you had tainted and send you on your way with it. And wonder why the hell you were In my house and why I ever considered you a friend.

I didn’t say she didn’t deserve to be punished I think you need to go back and re read what I said, if that’s too much allow me to do it here... The punishment must suit the crime, she in no way deserve the maximum allowable sentence for her actions... Aside from that the ice cream manufacture is as much to blame because of their packaging in fact everyone should boycott the brand until the packaging is safeguarded against any tampering...

In the first place, I said that I am 100% certain that she wouldn't do anything that stupid, so me hitting her is a non sequitur. Besides, she's an adult and I'd no longer administer corporal punishment. I actually just said it to troll people who I knew would be triggered by it.

In the second place, one of the reasons my daughter would not do something so stupid is that when she was a child and she did stupid things that harmed or potentially harmed others, we sometimes lovingly administered corporal punishment.

You see, when somebody is in the habit of doing stupid things, someone at some point is going to retributively punish that person, and that punisher will not give a rat's ass about the offender. I'd rather it be me - who loves my daughter and cares about her well-being - be the one administering the correction lovingly and correctively than that it be some street thug or public official with no personal connection or concern.

Through these early lessons, my daughter learned that certain modes of behavior brought about unpleasant results; she thereby learned to eschew those modes of behavior. This (in addition to the fact that in our family, we taught such basic human behavior as respect, consideration of others, personal hygiene, etc.) is one of the reasons you won't find my daughter in a video on the internet spitting in someone else's food and laughing about it , and why, now she's grown, I won't need to slap her upside da head!

No, I am more concerned with media that continues to focus public attention on mediocrity whilst millions of children get murdered in the world for power and profit.

The girl licked ice-cream. Get over it and move on.

I see, so again, felonies don't matter to you. Thanks for confirming that for me.

As for the other deflection and attempt to diminish her activity, nice try, but that is not how the law works. Laws stand alone, and you cannot compare them to other actions.

Here's an idea, try doing that with a police officer trying to arrest you for a felony action. Tell them that it's no big deal because there are starving children all over the world. So your actions are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Oh, and have the number of a good bond bailsman handy when you try that.

SMFH at more of the same.....

Again, these are obviously people who have no qualms about ingesting the random unknown bodily fluids of random unknown people.

I mean, whatcha gonna do with that. Just let 'em be, dude. Can't fix that!

What that girl did was be stupid. Is there anyone born that hasn't done something stupid, No.

Don't you have compassion in your heart to forgive people.

I can certainly forgive you for your insults as I have forgiven her, for hers.

That is the difference between us both. You want rule by mind, me by heart.

Don't get angry because of that. Try licking some ice-cream instead. Taste nice.

let's say she had hepatitis b or c, herpes, h.i.v, aids or many other disease that exist out there? there's no getting over that so why should people just get over it and let it go?

so what if she's under 18, she's old enough to know better so there should be no leniency whatsoever.
