I was just wondering how many members ATS had/has as of jan 2003, jan 2004, jan 2005. I have notice that like 600 new members join every week, we have now have over 36,000 members. Funny thing is that only about 3,000 ever posted stuff... I was wondering if there was some sort of records kept to see how ATS grew over the years... I would just like to know just for the hell of it...

Nah I posted it here because I didn't want to bother them, they already have too much work on their hands.

So long as you are not diagnosed with any OCDs, I suggest a DIY method that is simple. Go to the member database and tabulate it in registration date order. Go through the pages and find the dates of interest.

You can calculate # members by the number of member pages appearing in the database between those dates.

All you will be missing is the members who never posted and who were removed from the database - certainly a large additional number - but are those member really members after all?

I was thinking of that, but I wasn't really in the mood then. I guess i'll do it some time in the near future and ill post the results here.

Here's the ATS site stats for Jan 31 2004 and March 13 2005:

Big jump in members and posts.
There seems to have been a change in member interests also if you look at the most viewed threads.

Ok, I went back through the member records and I found what I have been looking for. Here is what I found out after my reserch:

2002:
First member: Abovetopsecret.com (1/15/02)
Total Registered members: 1,170 (12/31/02)

2003:
First member: deadtech1 (1/1/03)
Total registered members: 7,989 (12/31/03)

2004:
First member: usafsocom (1/1/04)
Total registered members: 34,645 (12/31/04)

2005
First member: 32656spring (1/1/05)
Curent members: 36,629 (3/13/05)
Total registered members: 40,870 (3/13/05)

About 4000 members accounts have been deleted from the records so far for varies reasons.

Anyway, im just glad to be part of such a great community and I plan on sticking around for a long time.

Good tabulation.

The roots of ATS are in a previous decade/century/millennium...

Graphing it all would be above and beyond the call of duty.

I know SO does some good graphs and this is an interesting insight into history, also showing the total audience for sponsors/advertisers.

I have also made a list how many posts each member has. Here are the numbers as of today this hour (3/13/05):

10,000+ = 3 members ... These members are the honorable: Gazrok, SkepticOverlord and Seekerof
5,000+ = 25 members have at least five thousand posts
1,000+ = 248 members have at least one thousand posts
500+ = 487 members have at least five hundred posts
100+ = 1,639 members have at least one hundred posts

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ These members account for 68% of all posts

50+ = about 2,490 members have at least fifty posts
10+ = about 5,100 members have at least ten posts
5+ = about 6,890 members have at least five posts
1+ = about 13,250 members have at least one post

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ These members account for 100% of all posts

0 = about 23,600 members have yet to post

LOL yeah, I wonder why they even joined... On average about 3,500-4,000 members go on the site at least once a month. I dont know what the rest of the members are doing...

LOL... maybe some day, when we have a big enough army. Right now we only have about 13,250 members that are dedicated enough to post. I would wait until we have at least 250,000 before we go and try to kill the beast. ROFL
