This is rich, considering Iran was a normal first world country with coffee shops and record stores BEFORE the US / CIA overthrew their democratically elected government and installed a puppet dictator in 1953.

Thank you very much for this. Here's a recap for those unawares, and perhaps a wake up call that WE tend to create these problems, be it directly or indirectly, then react to them (usually to the benefit of the rich and powerful). The toll to civilians on all sides is tragic and idiotic.

Let's learn from the past. And try to ensure it's the RIGHT lessons. Quit kicking hornet's nests. Quit rattling sabres. Recognize the LUDICROUS amount of issues here at home needing our attention and funding, and that focusing on them while keeping an eye on other things but not stirring them up might actually reduce the "hostile" behaviors of some of our "enemies"...which, at least in the eyes of several foreign intelligence agencies and analysts, are much less irrational or aggressive than they're typically sold to us as. Perhaps even defensive, one might say.

Hell, DPRK finally got nukes, and...we started buddying up with them? What the hell is going on here?

It’s come to light in recent years that it was the Brits who goaded the CIA into staging the coup.

Not that recent. Iran nationalized their oil and cut out British Petroleum, so of course they came to our leadership with inflated fears of communist influence. It was a farce that reached the highest levels in government, ruined Iran, and set us on the lunatic course this has since developed into.

And now we...continue to interfere in their internal affairs. Impose sanctions that harm Iranian civilians (some of whom I am friends with). And inflate threats, push (or at least are sold) lies, and will likely involve ourselves in yet further overseas adventurism, further contributing to destabilization of the region, migration situations, and so much other garbage we should know better than to dip our toes into by now.

Why though? For (maybe) damaging some Saudi tankers? For shooting down a robot?

It sounds like you've been thoroughly conned.

Thank you for that video. It nicely sums up why I am skeptical of the "we are the good guys, pinkie swear" rhetoric the media is trying to hype right now.

Those bastard Brits again, the source of all the world's ills and problems.

Well usually the US gets the blame while the UK gets little mention. But guess whose oil was at stake...
