This is getting amusing now. What did I say that indicates I'm sucking in mainstream media? I literally can't remember the last time I watched a news program. I watch snippets from both sides and read a lot. Where are you people getting this idea?

Should I have? It's not the topic of the thread...

I think any news outlet is biased in one way or another. Trying to find any news source claiming to be center is dumb. I'd rather get opinions from all sides and research their sources myself to arrive at my own conclusions.

Is that ok?

There is a massive disconnect about what "rights" are, and how people have "rights" in the first place.

There is a reason the word unalienable is used in the Declaration of Independence.




We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.


Rights are not given to us by the government. The government has no say over what is and is not a right. These rights are unalienable, as in Government has no control over them, and thus can not issue new rights or take away already existing rights.

Rights exist beyond and above government, and insisting that the government can "give rights" smacks of not understanding the foundation of our country. Because if a government can give rights ( or take them away ) it is a tyrannical government that is not of the people and has strayed far beyond its own scope. The government is only created to ensure that these rights are protected and enshrined, and as soon as a government oversteps this role by "giving rights" rather than protecting rights it is tyrannical in nature.

It looks like Bernie is trying to get the everyone gets a trophy just for being here bunch.

Take away everyone's drive to achieve and they will become slaves.

Guaranteeing that the one's with power and money now, like Bernie, will stay the one's with power and money.

I wonder if he would only tighten the chains on the working citizens in this Nation, or would he also tax the imports from other countries and their citizens with as much ferocity. I doubt the latter, the Socialists seem to always care more for non citizens.
